Holy shit! Brilliant! You always come up with solid presents to viewers and subs. You should name this one: "Licksology & Progression Timeline" That took a lot of restraint Not to veer off the sound and the feel of each era. Props! I felt like you took us through a musical movie with the years moving in the background and music heroes in the foreground. Thanks for the work!

Every positive comment is spot on. I my situation, he took a classically trained musician. And allowed the light bulb to turn on. The late great Harold Blanchard would often tell me "there are 12 notes, play them all." Nick has provided a way that I can use my theory to do it. Nick, I can never thank you enough. My belief is that Nick will be in music theory/history books more than he already is. My favorite channel by far on YT. Cheers, mate!

Best written blues solo collection ever. For me - sad to say - material for the rest of my life. Unbelievable how you play that in one take! Although my swing phrasing is completely different from yours, the melodic and harmonic material is great and worth every minute of practice time. Thank you Nick!

Please please love to here from you of how i can build up my skill level . Glen

Top musician . Great video . Blues soloing belongs on the electric guitar IMHO . You have so much more to choose from - dynamics , tone , polyphony ... blues needs string bends - from microtonal to maj 3rds - easily done. The instrument can really cry and wail . This stuff sounds 'nice' to me , like Pat Boone doing Rock n Roll . Just my tuppence worth , you have plenty plaudits here.
@JazzDuets5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the praise. I appreciate that. However there is something here in what you are conveying that feels rigid and limiting. The emotions of man expressed via music are beyond any one instrument. As well I do not care for the word 'belong' And finally, commenting on the execution as being 'nice' etc in an educational video where clarity of execution is paramount is picky I feel.
@DrTWG5 жыл бұрын
@@JazzDuets I'm just not hearing the blues in what you're playing - I'm really not feeling much - TBH , it's tending towards 'easy listening' and I found that I was bored quite quickly . I would [humbly] contrast this with 'Texas Flood' by Stevie Ray Vaughan (studio) - his solo is breathtaking . ( As far as the 'nice' comment - it was meant to be indicative of blandness rather than clarity of execution) . It;s the music I'm talking about and not the man.
