Jerry Murad and the Harmonicats were the first harmonica music I ever heard, and Peg O' My Heart was the first song of theirs I heard. It got me started playing chromatic when I was 15.

Thank you for this. I remember hearing this song on the radio; and my mother playing a 45rpm recording of it, when I was very young in the late 1940's & early 1950's.

Thanks Chris. I met your dad at a SPAH convention in the ‘80’s. He autographed my Hohner calendar! Also, I just watched him playing that great Peg chord solo with the Cats on a video from the 1987 Island of Jersey, UK Harmonica Festival. Awesome stuff.

I just came across this comment. Glad you had the chance to meet Dad. One of the best chord players ever…and I was lucky enough to be able to play with him for years!

i've always loved harmonica music and have a modest collection of diatoncs and chromatics, i would like to get a bass sometime. i've played along like you also, thnx.

Thanks! As a kid, I spent hours with Harmonicats records learning their arrangements. Bass harmonica is definitely different than the rest since it’s blow only. I have one, but can only play enough to get in trouble! 😊

"WOW" that was great. I have the Harmonicats on CD. I don't play much chromatic harmonica but I'm trying to learn how to become good at it. I like listening to Sugar Blue and playing in the style he plays in and I seek out the intensity I hear him play. This is what I can play along to 6 Lip Service and Lies - In Your Eyes (1995) in the key of Eb Major Harmonica & Eb Chromatic-3rd Position Concert f Minor. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aKLPgWlvorWrnM0 I love this live one by Sugar Blue Gucci Gucci Man. I have not learned this yet I'm still processing this song. It is the live version I found is super intense. A lot of precision going on and control and power with your breathing. it is in the key of C Major Harmonica-2nd Position, Concert G kzbin.info/www/bejne/hHfGm5p7d7uFiK8 I also know this song that may interest you that is very soulful called 8 Listen Baby - In Your Eyes (1995) It is in the key of Db Major Harmonica- 2nd Position, Gb/f# Major Harmonica 3rd Position Concert Ab Thank You! for sharing it is very good you play quite well. My granddad was a professional Clarinet player and played at Carnegie Hall with the Navy Band and with the LA PD Band playing Classical music. The Clarinet is in the same frequency range as the harmonica which I find to be interesting. kzbin.info/www/bejne/iWe7gnabgJlod5o
