@JazzMJFAN He didn't say neither... He said "¡hala¡", which is just a common expression in Spain when something surprises you. It's kinda like the "Oh!" in English in for example "Oh! Really?". I'm Spanish ;).

Probably it derives from the expression "Allah" (like "oh my god") as spanish has had a lot of influence of the arabic world. It really sounds like it at least...

assailant85 I don't to who you replied with your comment, but as an Arab and Moroccan I would say that both Spanish has been influenced by Arabic language and also Moroccan dialect ( not pure Arabic "fusha") has been influenced by Spanish language. An example of some Moroccan dialect words would be " shilya" which is "chair" and in Spanish it's "silla". The other way influence would be the word "paella" which goes for the famous Spanish dish of rice and chicken with some vegetables, that originated from the Arabic word " bakaya" which means "leftover" and that is because the people who worked in the houses and palaces of the rich Muslims in Muslim Andalucia used the leftover from the chicken and vegetables and mixed it with rice and it became later a Spanish dish.

@R9naldo2573 Good one! As you see "¡Hala!" is dependable on the context. It has not concrete meaning. If it's a surprise situation it's used as an expression of surprise. In the case of it being cheered as in the Real Madrid case you say it's just a cheering word. In that case it'd be something like "Go Real Madrid Go!". Hope that make sense! I really hadn't think about this word so much until now! Hehehe!
