I find this fascinating . Your demonstration of the three arch bridge , reminds me of something that I have wondered about all my life. Near were I live is a medieval bridge built in1490 . Which is still in use today, there are 6 arches ,. Upstream of each , is a stone ship shaped like extension . Presumable to protect each arch from debris such as large tree trunks that sometimes come down on a flood . And to divide the water as it goes through each arch . But the interesting thing is there is a similar shaped structure on the down stream side of each arch . Is this to stop the water washing out the foundations of the bridge , by smoothing the flow or is it for some other reason?

interesting, in regensburg where i lived there is a similarly build bridge, it was made in the 12th century and i too always wondered why it was built that way. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stone_Bridge_(Regensburg)

kzbin.info/www/bejne/o5C9faywd96db5o They have another video that shows a bridge peir in action. Your hypothesis is correct. It's the same principle as the angled weir to try to reduce the WAS level and scouring.

So there's no design better than the other it depends on what you need. So that's the reason why there's so many different people.

why do they say really rough concrete to describe how rapid the water is? what do they mean they said it twice in the videos i watched of theirs
@PhilEarp3 жыл бұрын
They are saying the surface roughness of the Perspex is similar to the roughness of concrete if you scaled the model up to the size of a real river

Putting that dam at an angle did basically nothing. She only drew the line a bit lower lol.
@mr.imtrying51743 жыл бұрын
I agree but this if for big scale, it would take longer for the water to get to the point of being a problem

Зачем нужны "первые" заграждения? Если вы хотите меньше поднять уровень воды перед заграждением, разве не проще просто сделать его ниже????
