BackwoodsBungalow Thanks. It was satisfying, but wish had bigger logs. Oh well, can always call up a logger and get some big ones.

i love the look sou this mill, the square throat looks like it would make life so much easier when you start cutting larger timber as well. Thanks for your initial thoughts, looks like it did really good job from hear and like you say, the cold nature part of that may not even be a issue when you get it good and broke in. Thanks again and have a blessed week.

Heartland Outdoor Living The square cur throat will be nuce when it comes to making timbers, or splitting a bunch of 2x12s into 2x6s. Winter and snow has kept me from doing anything with the sawmill. By next winter should have a sawmill shelter for it made from lumber I cut with this sawmill. And many other projects in the works. Have to wait for the slring thaw to get the stumps ground out so can get a log truck to the sawmill.

+Bens sawmill Thanks for subscribing and enjoying the video. Winter is coming soon, aka the bad cold weather on 12/5/17 when it gets below freezing for at least two week. Hope it warms up a bnit and can get a few more logs on the mill before it snows. It took long enough to get it together and love the solid feel of the Timbery M100.

It must have been a really cool feeling to finally make those first cuts. That motor stalling would drive me crazy but that sawmill is still leaps and bounds better than chainsaw milling.
@thefirewooddoctor
@thefirewooddoctor 7 жыл бұрын
Love2boat92 The engine stalling is a non-issue of you raise the rpm slightly before engaging the blade. I'd recommend to Timbery to switch to a centrifugal clutch. The cutting spedd is unreal compared to a chainsaw sawmill.

I've been planning to build a mill and collecting parts for over 30 years. It doesn't look like that's going to happen so, I might buy one. I really like the looks of the M100. Here are a couple of questions that I need to ask to help me get the most bang for my buck: 1. Somewhere I caught a glimpse of the motor mounts on a 7hp M100 and it looked like they had slots for a larger motor. Is that the way it looks to you? I have a new 13 hp motor and was thinking of buying the 7hp model and swapping them out. 2. From what I've read, it's more economical to rework the tracks with steel obtained locally, than to buy even one track extension. That way the track can be made seemless and shipping costs are minimized. Do your wheels run on angle iron? If they do do they roll down the edge or the inverted v of the angle iron and what size does the angle iron appear to be? Many thanks, Pilgrim

Best feature of the Timberly besides the price is the rectangular throat. You will not see the advantages at first when you start resawing cant it will become apparent.

Daryl Iams Ease of resawing a cant did not occur to me until now with the rectangular throat. Too bad I live where it is snow and cold. Just got the mill together just before the snow and cold came. Wish I had a shelter built for it to make milling more comfortable in the winter conditions.

Daryl Iams And you are correct, price is pretty good for what you get. Especially in their M280/285 models. Going to get the M285 in a few years or next as an upgrade if things permit me to do so.

I like that mill and have a few questions: 1.Your M100 appears to use an idler pulley to slacken the drive belt and stop the blade. Am I correct and if so, is there also a brake to completely stop the blade? 2 What hp and brand engine came with your mill? 3. Does Timbery sell the wear items, such as belts, bearings, and ceramic blade guides? I don't remember seeing them on their web site. Many thanks, Pilgrim
@thefirewooddoctor
@thefirewooddoctor 6 жыл бұрын
The throttle and blade activation is controlled by the same lever. As the throttle is squeezed, a second cable pulls on the belt tensioner. There is no blade brake in it when the throttle-blade level is released. Engine is a 9hp Subaru. The wear items are available from Timbery, call Timbery directly for the replacement parts.

parkinson1977 I knew I'd need a lot of practice. Cecil has a pretty good group of regular subscribers that chat in his live shows and videos. Is amazing how much a person can learn from the first few practice logs. One of the biggest things is learning, and remembering, to feather the throttle to raise engine rom just a but before mashing the throttle and engaging the blade as my sawmill doesn't have a centrifugal clutch.

CR Mills If it wasn't for my friend Brian helping me, this would not have happened anytime soon, even though I've had it for a few months at this point. Weather and work and life kept me from finishing it sooner. Next time home it will be near zero Fahrenheit at night.

Hi Jeffery. Are you going to build anything with the lumber? just thought id ask. :-)
@thefirewooddoctor
@thefirewooddoctor 7 жыл бұрын
parkinson1977 probably not these boards as the thickness is all over the measuring scale. Next logs I mill will be 1x4 strapping for a tool shed, 1x6 boards for board and batten siding. Got inspired to do a pole building for a tool shed after watching Cecil's pole building videos.
@thefirewooddoctor
@thefirewooddoctor 7 жыл бұрын
parkinson1977 Finally learned how to do board and batten siding from watching Cecil's videos. Might be three months or so until I can mill again, winter arrives just in time for Christmas. Will mill a log or two, all depends on if can get my van into the bush to haul logs.

I love Heather and Cecil. Talk about DEDICATION!! She's right there through all that nasty rain, mud then snow and ice recording every second. And Cecil working right through all that snow to frame that shed.... Man, they must come tough up there.

Gene Rhodes Had it for a few months, just needed help putting it together. Two heads are better than one. Definitely need help when putting the sawhead onto the carriage, is quite heavy to lift by yourself. Will try to get a few logs onto the mill Christmas Eve, make some 4x4s to make timber frame sawhorses I found in a suggested KZbin video. Going to be quite cold, not sure how much milling I'll do in the cold.

Gene Rhodes It took me a few months to out together because of work schedule, weather, and other projects that needed the attention more than the sawmill assembly.

Looks like the M100 got updated, but still uses the same poor design for the lowering portion of the raise/lower mechanism for the saw head.
