I am VERY HAPPY with the JBL Charge 5. In a few months I will purchase the boombox, just because….🤷🏻‍♀️. But for the money, you WILL NOT be disappointed with the JBL Charge 5.🙂

It's very true about being a distance from the speaker to properly judge it - you will hear distortion that will disappear at distance because it's designed to be listened to at a distance where the different speaker sound waves combine to create its true presentation.

One thing I've noticed about the Boombox 3 subwoofer. When pushing it to its limits the coil warms up extremely along with the radiators, similarly to how it would heat up if it still had "lfm". On top of that the coil has blackened slightly and smelled a little overtime. If you want a probably longer lasting speaker, get the 2. The woofers on the 2 have better handling on the power the jbl boombox 2 puts out to them, even in lfm, other than potentially damaging the woofers from overexcursion.

Well, I also have boombox three Wi-Fi and what I have found is when I play the speaker while charging for long time at hundred percent volume the bass decreases a lot and and after sometime the bass feels like it’s lesser than my boom two and boom box one, the only thing is that the sound is bright, but the bass compared is low after sometime and till the time of 80% volume, the base is good, but after that, the base doesn’t increase only the mid range increases, so I have come to the conclusion that if they will come out with boombox four or boombox five, they won’t be able to get that much bass out of it because it’s the highest bass, we can get from a Bluetooth jbl speaker.

I had a forest green JBL Boombox 1 which is literally impossible to find in that color now. It was stolen by the dirty tow truckers last summer when I got towed. Now that I’m finally done mourning it’s loss, it’s time I upgrade. Right in time for Prime day. On sale at $249.99, I’d say the Boombox 2 is a no brainer. Thanks for the informative video

Those rubber feet are a Achilles heal on the BB3. And the BB2 can be had for $299 so for now I’m sticking with the BB2. Also if I need more high’s I will pair it with my charge5 or flip5. The weight difference could be that charging block that they put inside the BB3 along with the extra drivers.

bluetooth has to much latency when your dealing with realtime audio mixing and beatmatching etc, nice with that audio jack to mitigate that and use theses as portable alternatives to a bigger sound system

It’s a kinda hard to tell which one is better i have both and a lot of times my boombox 2 has louder bass then the bb3 but bb3 does sound a lot better on the rock, hardrock and metal songs but sometimes the boombox 2 takes the win on the heavy bass songs doesn’t really make sense but yeah 😅

I had that same popping when i bought some JBL smart speakers a year or two ago. thankfully like you said it ended. glad you mentioned it. I own a bunch of JBL speakers, both floor, bookshelf and smart. I love them all. they are awesome. I must compliment you on an excellent review and your insights. when you said about the JBL signature sound and lack of equalizer due to that, you nailed it. JBL has always been known as "west coast sound". that sound works for me. big bass and big booty. JBL nails it. one bit of trivia for you JBL lovers. JBL are the initials of James Ballough Lansing. He is the man behind JBL which goes way back to the 1940's. Here is the kicker. Mr Lansing ran into business problems with JBL in 1949. He committed suicide and left the insurance money to the company so it could continue on. and it did. And now YOU know the rest of the story. JBL 4 EVER. you are right about the 3 having better mid range and treble than the 2. but its $$$ for that upgrade. I can get a 2 right now for 240 on ebay from Harman Kardon. thats a smokin deal.

The Boombox models are always the most expensive models and have better audio quality, for example the boombox 3 many say that now it has too much power in the mids, but it is nothing more than that we got used to the fact that JBL always lacked high mids since its sound is in V, but now with its 3 audio channels it is a beauty of sound and separation of instruments, on my channel I have a video where I show the test of the channels separately from the boombox 3, proof that nobody has done so far.

I just purchased the boombox 3. I've never listened to the boombox 2. I'll say this; the 3 has it's own powered subwoofer, which means it doesn't lose bass at higher volumes. In comparison to a speaker that's producing mids & bass, you'll lose bass at higher volumes, due to the fact that they're both relying on the same power supply. It's common sense.

BB2 has softer sound, where it shines in comparison is at higher volumes with slightly less harsh higher end, mids- BB3 has more presence in the mids and higher end-it doesn’t have less bass than BB2, it just that the mids are louder-the bass has more of a punch which is where the BB3 shines at lower to mid volumes. I’d be happy to use either as both appear to have strengths and weaknesses depending on the genre of music being played and volume

Thanks for watching! That's a really tough question for ME to answer because I REALLY LOVE the BB3. The sound is cleaner& brighter (which I like) the look is better (in my opinion and not having the charging brick is a plus for me. If I were standing in the store right now looking at and listening to both, I would personally choose the BB3 even though it's not on sale. However if you took the BB2 home, and started using it, you would most likely be completely satisfied.

I feel like even though the BB3 might have more base, the BB2 as a "fuller" sound. The BB3's base is too kicky and sounds separate from the rest of the frequencies. But some people love the separation of sound between bass/mids/treble.

I brought both compared both with latest firmware, boombox 2 is really good, but that boombox 3 hits harder bass wise, voices more foward and clear. sub bass is about the same in both. Boom box 3 is a little clearer better seperation. I kept boombox 3. Its also nicer looking and no big power block to charge just a simple cable.

Thanks for watching. In terms of "loudness" in the form of decibels, to me they're the same. However, the BB3 projects the vocals and mids better making "appear" to be slightly louder.

The bb3 is probably better than the 2 it has to be, it's important to note that a speaker always needs a good 7 hours minimum of wear in time get the rubber surrounds loosened up to a more natural state the bb2 when I first got it was so heavy on certain notes placement was a pain in the ass, after about 15 hours play time below half volume it sounds so much better it's balanced its self out. What I'm trying to say it don't be fooled by just because it's a new model if the older ones got good reviews anyway and it's on a good deal grab it give it time!

To my ears, the sound signature of the boombox 2 is better than the boombox 3. It sounds like there is more bass or maybe less trebles and mids. The result is more pleasing to the ears, less harsh and warmer. On the moment the best sound signature I've heard on a bluetooth speaker is the Audio Pro T4 or C5. BB2 and BB3 are good speaker. They can use as dumb bell to train your arm muscle. As BB2 weighs 5.9 kilogram and BB3 weighs 6.9 kilogram😅

BB2 is at 200$, BB3 is at 460$ here in our place, the price difference is more than double. 😂 while bb3 has better overall volume/clarity/bass/mids..its battery are the same with bb2, bb3 battery should have been around 12k mah.. yes, bb2 bass/mid/clarity drops past 80% volume. but im glad im used to set my speakers (edifier/altec/jbl charge 5) volume to 70% same with my phone volume always at 70%...to extend the life of speakers even by just a little bit...thats why the massive price down of BB2 since the release of BB3 is a win win situation for me.. P.S. BB3's Oval Subwoofer is at risk of early failure due to it's shape..the sound pressure isnt in equilibrium unlike if its circular shape..believe me upcoming BB versions wont be using that Oval Subwoofer anymore.

It has a higher wattage output. I never look at decibels because you can have a home system doing 93db and a decent BT speaker do the same and both have different wattage ratings. So yeah, BB3 is louder.
