If you are not an audiophile, then the XDOBO is for you. You see, there are people who prefer listening to music which is "balanced" across the spectrum thru its built-in equalization and JBL, HARMAN KARDON, BOSE, SONOS, to name a few brands, are excellent in that field. That said, there are discerning people who are hearing a better balanced sound with the JBL-- and that makes the JBL standout price-wise compared to the XDOBO. Don't get me wrong, I am not articulating the XDOBO is not a good BT speaker. Actually, I am contemplating of getting one for myself-- XDOBO X8 Max. It will be primarily used for loud thumping hip-hop music which, for me, does not require "equalization picking", so to speak. It will be loud for the said purpose, hehehe...

Thanks for the review Narseh !! I was attracted to the low price/high power of the Xdobo. However, after listening to your side-by-side comparison, I'd rather pay more and get the JBL speaker. Sound is way clearer in the JBL, Xdobo sound mores like a loud potato bag !

the bass on the x8 has a strange flutter effect. after a bass thump the woofer or bass radiator has this strange bass rebound that is super annoying, I had two of these but returned them because of this. Imo this is caused by ether the improper passive radiator tuning or the fact that the drivers are just to powerful for the size of the chamber inside. double the size of the speaker and add a larger passive radiator and i think that would solve a lot of the x8's issues. The higher volume you go the worse the rebound effect is. I will say thought aside from the odd bass response these get remarkably loud. two of them tws together was pushing the comfort limit of my ears at 3 feet away

Totally agree with you, that's also my observation with the mode 1 of X8, it's like the bass is doubled, i sounds so thick, and it's pathetic, i also noticed that mode 1 have this low frequency drop response that's distorting the bass

it could also be dsp issues. I have an amp with a nuvoton processor that does the same thing even in a fully sealed enclosure

It actually sounds like the xdobo is just clipping the microphone more. The jbl sounds much cleaner because it doesn't clip the mic and while I'll admit it is cleaner, it does so at the expense of low end. I use hq in ear headphones (6*ba+dd), and tbh, when you hear a jbl speaker playing, it just seems...flat. I'll take the xdobo, from other reviews, it's not this muddy. Also, it's just going to sound better outdoors where the bass will go a long way.

JBL was definitely the winner, but it was an unfair comparison. Did you have the XDobo too loud?, bass seemed completely wrong and what happened to a vocals test My advice is don't turn the volume up to distortion levels, it's not good for a comparison test and a wider variety of music is needed. I've bought 2 different Bluetooth speakers in the past. I liked both of them a lot at first, but both of them broke within one year. One speaker the charging port broke. It fell inside the speaker so I couldn't charge it anymore. On the other speaker, the left speaker blew out. So it technically still works, but it sounds horrible. So I never use it. They don't build things to last anymore.
