I am experimenting with zeolite sand/gravel as well as large chunks of pure zeolite. It will raise/buffer pH and bind ammonia. This stuff looks great too. Might need to create a mix.

I would like to state that this stuff by default has a very very very high amount of iron in it naturally. So you might have problems with staghorn algae after a few weeks. If you do, you can get rid of it with seachem excel/easylife carbo.
@user-rr3wm4by6hАй бұрын
How often do you use it to get rid of it? My tank is more than a week old and i can already see some algae growing on some of my plants 😢
@KraljHDАй бұрын
@ You spot dose the full recommended dose every day. What I lately started doing is introducing a siesta period of 4-5 hours in all my tanks and that drastically decreased the algae and increased the plant growth.

Should I try using this substrate for my root growth with a fine gravel on top 🤔 my idea is that this should trap the nutrients in it and the gravel on top should stop me from sucking all the good nutrients out when vacuuming, although I imagine it would prevent water from flowing as well through the manado ? I just thought the texture would be good for the roots, I'm not planning on using fertilizers and I'm only planning on using easy plants 🤔
@EverydayAquarist4 жыл бұрын
You don't need to cover this substrate with another, it's a top layer

Hello I am looking for some advice here. Moving house so I'm converting from gravel to this substrate. I have lava rocks and ornaments that will go back in plus the mature filter. I was thinking just leave this s9aking in a bucket for 5 days with frequent water changes. How long before I can put my plants and fish back in. What should I look out for?

Hello I'm French, and I don't understand if we can put the Manado dark alone. or if i must to put another floor under/before Manado. Could someone tell me that more easly? I have an 80litres and I want to put only plant and neocaridina into. Sorry I'm better in Spanish languages..

Hi Sharon if you mean black beard algae it's normally caused by an imbalance of carbon in the aquarium its really tricky to tell you how to beat it without seeing the tank but essentially the tank is unbalanced. Using seachem excel liquid carbon can help to fight it off
@patricklankhorst51764 жыл бұрын
@@EverydayAquarist I can second that. After three weeks of Seachem Excel my BBA was totally gone.
