I got 2 of the 710’s for my place and them 2 speakers are awesome in TWS. Of course 2 ultimates would be more awesome, but here in Georgia at 8% sales tax at $1700 a piece , 2 of the JBL PartyBox ultimates would have ran me just under $3700 however I was able to get the 710s on sale and got both of them for $1490 saving me $2180 from what two of the ultimates would’ve cost…………however down the line ,Depending on what JBL comes out with in a couple of years from now I may get a couple of these ultimates or whatever they have then because no matter how great one speaker is and I have heard this ultimate and it is pretty awesome, but to have a pair of the 710s in TWS , it sounded a little louder a little more bass and sound a little better in TWS than the ultimate I heard , but then again two of the ultimates would be pretty insane also lol But there is no doubt that this JBL ultimate is one of the most awesome speakers I have heard. I just got through listening to them tonight and I had to put a couple of pictures on the wall that was knocked down lol I also have a couple of the JBL encore speakers I carry in my car and I have in my bedroom and if you put them up against the wall or kind of in an enclosed area like only shelf the way the sound reverberates off the wall is pretty incredible for two of the small speakers like that normally I would not pay 300 apiece for them but Walmart had the JBL encores on sale for $149 each so I picked up a pair of them and at that price that was damn good however I am seeing the JBL PartyBox 1000 on sale right now for $899 if it was that price when I got these 710s three weeks ago I probably would’ve gotten them instead,L O L

I watched several comparison videos compering the JBL 710 and the ultimate. The videos stated that whilst the 710 had a TWSM (True Wireless Stereo Mode) switch on the speaker to connect 2 speakers wirelessly in stereo mode, the ultimate did not, and could only be connected to another Ultimate in stereo mode by a wired connection. If I have understood this video correctly, you are stating that whilst the Ultimate differs from the 710 in not having a dedicated TWSM switch on the actual speaker, it can still be paired to another Ultimate wirelessly in stereo mode, by a TWSM setting on the phone app. Please clarify. Would it be better to get a strong 2 channel Amp and 2 good quality high sensitivity speakers or equivalent for way less than the party box ultimate. I wonder how it will stack up against each other. I know it's not comparing apples with apples, but the ultimate is also not that portable and requires to be plugged in. Is it that loud and clear and hard to beat at the $1700 price point.

A setup with speakers and an amp will sound better. It all depends on how you plan to use it.

I have heard them in person and it is definitely worth it , it’s about 3 decibels higher than the JBL 1000 ( about 25 louder to the ear ) but it has better expended mids and highs and cleaner bass , especially if you get two of them and run them in TWS …… now that is totally insane😎🤘🤘

How do you do choose which speaker is left and which speaker is right when you set up true wireless stereo? Do you just have to listen and then swap them around..?

Good question. In our testing, we used the main one as the left. We will have to look into this but doing a listening test would be best.

Can’t you Bluetooth pair the JBL PB1000 with the JBL PBUltimate? If not can you daisy chain them or nah? I ask because I have 2 pb1000 and plan on getting an ultimate soon and want to know if I can still connect them in some way.

That might be a workaround, however the audio quality could suffer as you pair more. You can only physically daisy chain like units.

Hi, if you are answering questions on these comments, I have two of the JBL boombox three speakers I am wanting to know as I like to use them for parties. I am a guitarist and wondering would disconnect wirelessly to those boombox three speakers, and also can a line out be ran from an amplifier as a direct in to the party box, rather than Using a separate PA I just wondered the speakers can obviously handle the music, but it would be a Tube Amplifier going directly into the party box and I was not sure how the conversion or if it would work thanks I’m a great guitarist and long-term teacher, but certainly not a speaker tech Still stuck in the land of EL 34s and KT 66s lol thanks but definitely wanting to update this younger lady I’ve just started dating is very into the speaker and I just thought I would see if it would work. They call it a subwoofer, but the midrange is only 4.5" so its really more of a woofer. The response goes down to 30hz at -6db

We have not tested that but likely not. The other speakers are slaved to the main. You better solution would be a basic mic mixer.

It’s a great sounding speaker, “BUT” its flawed! As with all the other JBL Partyboxes, the Ultimate will not sync up with the others unless it’s “daisy chained”. If you buy a second Partybox Ultimate, you MUST be connected to WI-FI to link them up, unless you daisy chain them. The lights will not work together daisy chaining them. Dolby Atmos will only work with a PAID SUBSCRIPTION. That’s why I bought two JBL Partybox 710’s. They link up through Bluetooth and is a one button process on each 710. Yes the 710 is missing the separate midrange drivers, but the woofers that are used are able to go higher in frequency. It’s not like the Ultimate but close and $1100 cheaper per each. In a SPL test, the Ultimate was only 3 decibels higher than one JBL 710

Now don't get me wrong, the Ultimate sounds awesome. I was lucky and found out all this from my neighbor who has two. For the home and backyard, its great!! Out and about, you better have a wifi hotspot to sync them totally or resort to daisy chaining and the lights wont be in sync

@@leewarner9357 I also have two of the 710s and running two of them in TWS is pretty awesome for sure . Also what I do not like about daisychaining it’s not just the lights are out of sync but you have to actually control each speaker to bring them to the same volume and the app does not control the additional speaker or speakers daisychain but it goes to mono and you don’t get the TWS but also the party box app where you have the EQ will not transfer to the daisychained additional speaker I confirmed that with Technical Support. Thats a real disappointment at least to me it is . That’s the only downside to JBL they boxed themselves in a corner on certain features like that. It’s like with party boost you can sync up 100 different of their smaller speakers but who in the hell actually does that?? I wish you could wirelessly connect at least four Party box speakers in TWS where are the EQ can be used with all four speakers and also divided up in stereo at the same time but unfortunately right now it cannot be done , only 2 speakers , and I actually tried to add a pair of 310s to go with my two 710s and when I tried to daisychain them it would not work every way I tried it would not work so I ended up taking the 310s back for a full refund the next day and The 3.5 mm auxiliary cord that I was told that I needed but I’m beginning to think it was not the correct cord and the salesman did not know what he was talking about because I don’t know a lot about this stuff . However , now the 710s are on sale for $689 each that’s what I got mine for. Good point you brought up about the dB because even the party Box 1000 actually registers in 1 decibel lower than the 710’s , even though the party box 1000 actually has a little more bass and a little deeper bass than the 710 when I listened to them I think the 710 had a cleaner bass ( when using the EQ setting ) and was pretty much almost as deep and you can easily afford both of the speakers and as you know having two of them is definitely a game changer than just having one👏👏
