Links to the speakers, the handstrap I used on the Xtreme 4 and a link to my Amazon Storefront are in the description. 😉 One thing to note is these speakers max volume is very close to the same output. The SOundlink Max handle is removable and they sell a longer shoulder strap for it, as well.

I recently bought the bose max and it’s amazing. Bose by default has lower the med because you can adjust the bass, med and treble on the bose app.

I wanted to upgrade the Xtreme 3 to the 4. In my opinion I liked the way the 3 sounds better thus instead of upgrading I spent that money on the Bose Max. After comparing both speaker on an outdoor test I can confirm I am happy with my purchase. The Bose has a much wider soundstage and when you start walking to the side the Bose still sounds great hence much better for outdoor parties than the Xtremes. I also like that the Bose has a handle making it easy to carry (not a fan of the straps). I had the bass boosted and once I flattened the EQ to neutral I had the feeling I was able to get the speaker much louder so keep that in mind when you are outside and need to turn it up. You buy this speaker because it sounds awesome for 26cm but if you are looking for a bass heavy speaker at high volume you have to move to the 40cm boom box category. I bought it because I was looking for the best in compact. Yeah its expensive but you get great sound, great quality in the housing (rubber coated) hence you get the feeling to take it everywhere without worries and its IP67 thus water proof. IMO its worth the price and a better choice than the Xtreme series.

Of all my Amazon Associate purchases by shoppers, the Bose Soundlink Max has had the highest return for refund rate by far. I think a lot of people have been disappointed with it.

I agree. And t feel like the people returning the Bose is they just want to send it to max volume and the get disappointed when it breaks up and they really don't realize that it's still loud and sounds better turned down a little bit.

compared them side by side. i ended up buying the Bose. i had headache after a few minutes listening to the Jbl exreme 4. Bose soundlink max i just to good to listen to compared to JBL extreme 4 in person

Regarding my Soundlink Max My name is Gaëtan, and I am French. I was hesitating between buying a second Soundlink Flex or the Max. I finally opted for the larger model, thinking that I could pair it with its smaller sibling. Unfortunately, this is not possible, and even more disappointing, you cannot turn on the speaker from your smartphone. This feature is technically possible with the smaller model. Even the store salesperson told me without my asking, “You know you can connect it with your Soundlink Flex!” Well, no, unfortunately not… Why not make this speaker compatible with the Bose Connect app and also with the Bose app? I am disabled, and this remote turn-on feature simplifies my life… Could you perhaps tell me if turning on a Bose speaker with a smartphone depends on the firmware or if it is a hardware issue? Have a nice day.

I’m sorry but the Jbl extreme 4 was a let down in my book but still a great speaker the issue is the price maybe if it’s on sale for 300$ yeah?

Yeah , the battery is 100$ and I got the extreme 4 for 200$ resealed and because I have a stage 320 now I have 2 battery's to swap with the one I am takeing out.

I think overall the Authentics 200 is a better sounding speaker, but it must be plugged in. So if you did need something more portable, the Soundlink Max is a good speaker, just has some issues with bass music when you push the volume high. One other option is the Authentics 300, which has a battery. amzn.to/3Ldb4XC

It’s not as durable as a JBL speaker because the body is made of plastic with a metal grill on the front. It will get some scratches. For the price to performance aspect, it’s kind of hard to go wrong. I just purchased one off of Amazon for $99.99. It normally retails for $129.99. At full retail price it’s a good deal. Marked down to $99.99 makes it hard to pass up.😅

I think both sounded pretty good on the ledge in this video, but the JBL was a little better overall to me even without considering the bass issues the Bose has at high volume.

The Bose is still loud even when you turn it down just enough that it doesn't Overdrive the speaker. I have the bose and a extreme 3. I like the extreme 3but I really like the Bose you just have to adjust the bass heavy stuff. Great video!

No the Bose has a good balanced sound. I think the extreme slightly has a little lower bass but the Bose is more present. I love the way the Bose sounds. It reminds me of my pa equipment. And I have Bose, JBL, Mackie, and EV. (A couple other brands too) Bose could possibly fix the max volume distribution in a update but it truly gets loud and clear before distribution and the bass sounds great. Hope this helps.

It is not all about the sound , from the form factor I don't think they can do much with it , the real upgrade is in Auracast and swapablle battery. The sound can be modified via upgrade's and that is about it. Yes there are a lot of chep alternatives but they all look like toys. For looks I like the sony xg300 and 500.
