JBL Xtreme Speaker | Battery Replacement

Hi guys, just a quick footage about replacement my JBL extreme speaker which has been using for over 4 years may be, battery could not charge up, can't use it without unplugging the power wire.

Thanks to your help I changed the battery in a few minutes, the old battery was about to blow itself up, it was looking like Jabba the Hutt - about six year old, maybe the swap saved me from burning my house down - that's the way a DIY video should be, thanks a lot Andy!

What a fantastic video. I'm completely chuffed to have fitted by myself the novice that i am 😂. Ordered battery Saturday arrived Monday (today) 24/5/21 standard post. With the video I fitted in under 1 hour. The only thing l did differently was to unscrew front facing speaker which i picked up from another video which gave easier access to the battery connection point. Thank you for posting video. 👍🏾

Hello, many thanks for your help of this video tutorial :) It helps me a lot to change and replace my old genuine battery, of 10000mah (but fake information for JBL, so not really 10000 mah inside) for a 5500 mah, with tools sold with it, for 28€ only. With 250 notices on Amazon, it is one of the most reliable batteries. Just been installed today, to see in use what the new autonomy will give... so stay tuned

Very good non language Vid. Perfect focused and on point. Annoyingly though. The battery costs around £24 (UK) You can buy the whole speaker new off of Ebay for half the price at or around £13. (2021)

--Disable and Re-Enable the Internal Battery via program logic-- Hold the JBL CONNECT button beside the power button, and volume up, until the fifth light flashes red. Then plug in the JBL if not already and power it on and do the key combo again to enable the internal battery again. -->This totally fixed my BT Connection issues and where the unit would Abruptly power down when connected via Bluetooth. Also it sound better too like it kinda sounded blown before idk maybe that like my placebo ears. I also did a reset though Bluetooth button and Volume + buttons together for 10 seconds

Nice video, do you know what are clear signs of a faulty battery? My JBL extreme does work but always fails when I put it louder or when there is much bass and it doesn't have it when its plugged into the charger. I assume it is the battery but what is your opinion?

At 7:32, you effortlessly had that opaque cover fall into place. However, I was unable to get it on properly. The part where the ribbon connector thing screw on did not want to seat properly. Do you know why that is? Maybe I didn't properly screw the connector to the opaque cover?

Hey thanks for dropping by, If you could keep the foam, you can wrap the new battery, but you need to figure it out how the 3M tape works with the foam surface. So I just put the new battery in, no problem so far. Hope it helps.

Thanks for your message mate. Well... at that moment I did not think too much about the capacity of the battery, I just replace the same thing as it original set up. If you ask me now, I would try using bigger capacity battery. I think it wouldn’t blow up or something as the battery output would be the same, you just can use longer time unless the original design don’t support bigger capacity battery. Do let me know if you are succeed or not, all the best!

That’s a trouble mate, can you still turn the thing on when you plug the power supply? If you can, then the port seems ok, so you may try to replace the new battery. Hope it helps, cheers!
