Way to go man!! You're one of the few reaction channels that actually gets this song!! So many reaction channels have people that start crying because of their loving mother that took such good care of them and they don't get the message of the song at all! But you actually get what the songs about so Bravo for your Channel and you!! Great job I'll definitely keep watching your Channel! And the movie was actually the boy in the plastic bubble with John Travolta! At least I think that's what it's called but that's the main actor in the movie. And the last line in the song "mother did it need to be so high"? speaking about the height of the "Wall" built around him! In other words "did you need to be so overprotective mother"?

This song rips me up every time. Masterpiece is the perfect word. "Mother did it need to be so high". Meaning the wall she built around him. I am a mom, grandma, great grandma. It is the scariest & the most rewarding thing ever. Once you have that baby, your heart is so full of love & pride & so easily broken & hurt. They cry, you cry. They grow &you let them fly. They achieve, you are proud. You can teach them right from wrong but ultimately they make their own decisions. You pray everyday that you taught them good enough. You watch your children with their children & your heart gets bigger. Your children's children with their children & your heart gets bigger still. But the bigger it gets, the more it can hurt. I love your reaction. Your mom did well.

Man this song has power. No band could ever capture the essence of a topic or put more emotion into any song than Pink Floyd. These guys were almost supernatural. Great reaction man.

This is the first video of yours I’ve watched. But you so nailed this reaction, right off the bat. Even without knowing the complete context of the album this song came from, you straight up got what this song is about. I am looking forward to looking into your other reactions from other artists because I can tell you “get it” like I always have

You do some of the best reaction videos, you actually listen to the music without constantly interrupting. There is so much more Floyd you should listen to, Dark Side of the Moon, Meddle, Wish You Were Here and more. Keep it up James. Best wishes.

The mother of the lead singer lost her husband in the war service when the singer was a baby. She became over-protective, but when the musician was writing this song, they had a good relationship. It's not an accurate snapshot of their relationship. It's their relationship transmuted into art, which is beautiful - because it shows something both sad and beautiful.

It certainly is a powerful song... I want to point out that this song's lyrics are just 'One more brick in the wall' that was Pink Floyd's double album called 'The Wall'. The message overall was one of indoctrination, the human spirit in the young learning about the way humans pass on everything on to their offspring... indoctrination, compassion, fear, love, hate, addiction, joy, war, peace,... all of it and the young are left to sort the good from the bad and the useful from the harmful in the end. React to as many songs from 'The Wall' as are recommended to you. Then go listen to the entire double album in order, beginning to end in one sitting. It's great music (classic, in fact) as well as thought provoking and thought-full. As it's been said... 'The juice is worth the squeeze' on this one. :)

It’s odd to consider the fact that we adopt many views, many of us from our mothers per this example, because that’s what we have exposure to, and are nurtured by from being a babe on. We do adopt those things. I thought my poop would stick to my butt if I swallowed my gum 🤣. Anyhow, one can adopt ridiculous notions that will force some to see the world as something it isn’t. In this case the put much emphasis on patriotism in the for of unwavering trust for one’s government. It the implied the error of such views. Bravo on the reaction friend! 👏🏻

To me this is not about an overprotective mother, it’s about a very manipulative and controlling mom who disguises as a protective parent. She uses fear and insecurity to isolate him from others and bind him to her. He’s not allowed any independence, if he tries anything on his own she WILL find out and scare the living c… out of him. Mom makes sure that she’s the only certainty he has in life. He can’t trust anyone or anything else. It’s not a need to keep him safe that drives her, but a selfish desire to tie him to her, so she won’t end up all alone. I am a very protective mother myself, yes some has accused me of being overprotective, but my priority has always been my daughter’s safety and happiness. My daughter is now an adult who lives with her boyfriend of 4 years, and I am so proud of the wonderfully kind hearted and very capable young woman she has become.

Watching people “React” to Pink Floyd without knowing their humble beginnings sometimes is a put off. To truly comprehend and somewhat understand Pink Floyd’s songs, one needs to learn how they were written or what their inspiration was, when David Gilmour became lead guitarist and vocalist. You can watch ANY interview with ANY member of the band and they will confirm that SYD BARRETT was “Key”. If you research SYD BARRETT, everything makes sense. Every album had a reference to SYD, before Pink Floyd had a falling out with each other.
