For the 41 years I had with my late wife, we listened to this song every Christmas morning.

I'm glad you reacted to this beautiful classic, bro. Btw, what made this such a special song was that it was originally composed and released during World War 2, and it was made especially for the US soldiers who were deployed overseas in combat zones far away from home. The song touched the hearts of those US soldiers who were homesick, having not been home or seen their families in many years. That is what this song is really for --- homesick soldiers overseas in the line of fire.

This was my Dad's favorite Christmas song. He served in WWII, and all the men he was with cried whenever they heard it. My dad continued to cry all those years later. I will always think of him when I hear it. This is from a movie called "Holiday Inn." Fred Astair also stars in it. This was not supposed to be the hit from the movie, but it was!!

@@andyfletcher3561Yes; but "White Christmas" was sung in the movie "Holiday Inn", before it was sung in the movie "White Christmas".

@@kayblock-bourghs8285 I didn't make any comment on which was first, only that it was in both.

@@andyfletcher3561 I realized that. I was just clarifying which movie he sang it in first. Sadly, a lot of people have never heard of the movie "Holiday Inn". They only think of "White Christmas". By the way, this year is the 70th Anniversary of the movie "White Christmas". Some theaters are showing it this month. My husband & I hope to see it.

@@kayblock-bourghs8285 Both are excellent films. I do hope you two get to see it in a theater. Here's a marathon for ya..."White Christmas", "Holiday Inn", and "The Bells of St. Mary's"...

Pretty much the ultimate Christmas song. Now you've seen Bing, maybe give a listen to him and David Bowie singing "Little Drummer Boy/Peace On Earth". Recorded in 1977 and broadcast just weeks after Bing had passed away.

People may think that this is very corny these days, but I think it's sweet and gentle. It takes me back to my childhood a time of innocence and love.

Yes see the movie! But there are some scenes in it that are of the past- and one should fast forward thru them. But it is worth seeing Fred Astaire dance when he is genuinely drunk! He's not acting there .

Just wondering if you have seen the get together between Bing and David Bowie when they sang Little Drummer Boy/Piece On Earth?

This song is hard to sing and make ut sound really great. Two artists did it beautifully, Bing Crosby and Nat King Cole. Most other versions, especially from country artists, are pitchy, or nasally, or otherwise esthetically displeasing. Bing and Nat for sure really do this song justice.
