I've been listening all year to the Bible Project series on the Sermon on the Mount, it's been so good for fresh insights into this critical part of scripture, as Jesus' sermon on the mount functions in many ways parallel to the giving of the Torah (instruction / teaching) through Moses. Now Jesus has come here as one "greater than Moses" (Deut 18:15), to turn us back to YHWH and cause the "rising and falling of many in Israel."
In the podcast we have come to the part of the text where Jesus teaches about dealing with anxiety and trust (link to podcast below). In keeping with the decision to trust, I wanted to share a song today by my daughter Cora called "Trust Your Story." Any fans of the Bema podcast are familiar with the repeated theme of scripture to choose to "Trust the Story" when it comes to the grand narrative of what God is doing in the world, who we are as human beings, and how we fit into what God's purposes and plans are for humans and for planet earth. We find there is a direct connection between mission, calling, and finding God's purpose for our lives.
Bible Project -
I have been meditating on this a lot, asking God for more time and the health to be able to "complete the task" (Acts 20:24) of what he put me on earth to do. All of us who have become disciples (committed followers) of Jesus and citizens of his heavenly kingdom on earth have surrendered to his lordship, even in uncertainty, suffering, or processing what we don't understand.
My daughter Cora has written a song called "Trust Your Story" that expresses this truth, and I wanted to share it on my Monday Morning music blog today. Please listen to the song below (you can listen / watch the lyrics and feel free to leave a comment).
Also I wanted to update all of you who have been praying for my battle with glioblastoma so here is a health update since my last post:
