Everyone has preferences for a partner and I think everyone is entitled to their opinion because these preferences can really affect how happy/compatible a relationship is. For example, I’m vegetarian and I would love a partner who is vegetarian, because I love to cook and share food. And I would personally like a partner from my same culture as there would be more in common food-wise/pop-culture wise. Ppl will say it’s bad that you have preferences, but I think it’s really not, as long as you treat everyone who does not fit these “preferences” with respect, even if you choose not to date them.

veganism is more than just a food preference, sometimes vegetarianism too! it's often tied to your values and beliefs about health, animal ethics and environmental issues. also food in general is such an important aspect in dating, that if you're incompatible in that area, it may be difficult to continue a relationship for the long term. that being said, not every vegan will refuse to date an omni, some might not even care about it. however, i think it's wrong to reduce veganism to simply a "food preference" when for a lot of people it's pretty much a lifestyle lol

Thank you for supporting China-Town! ♥️ I hope to go there one day. About the vegetarian thing, I agree with both of you. In the past I also thought I might not be able to be with a vegetarian, but now I think it's possible, cause we need to respect others and be open minded, also partners will influence us and maybe we will change specific habits. Lately, I also think a lot about eating less meat, cause it's healthier, environment-friendlier and ethical, but I don't know, if I will be able to eat completely without any meat. Anyway, it might be challenging to change habits or maintain the relationship, but it's not impossible. My "preferences" are people, who don't smoke. I could never have a relationship with somebody, who smokes. Also I don't know about drinking. I don't drink, but I am ok with, if he drinks just a bit. Still, I would rather hope to find somebody who doesn't drink.

Congrats on moving in together J Bros! And regarding the vegetarian thing, I think it's because eating together is a big part of dating and taking out a whole food group just makes for less options. Plus, the way to a person's heart is through the stomach, and if they're vegetarian/vegan it makes it harder to show affection for them by cooking for them haha.

I'd agree. I have a friend I make plans with who is vegan. It is great to hang out with her, but at times it's difficult because we have to go through all of the restaurant options to find one that caters to her diet. It can be frustrating as well because we can't just walk by a restaurant and say 'let's go there!'. It all has to be planned.

Would just like to add that the difference between saying you prefer to date someone who eats a variety of food vs saying you prefer to date someone who is a specific race is that people can choose what they eat or don't eat. People cannot choose what race they are, and that's why having racial dating requirements is wrong, but having dietary dating requirements is not.

I like to travel and eat all kinds of local food. I travelled with a vegan friend and all the places I wanted to try doesn't cater to her food preferences so we ended up having to travel separately half of the trip because it's uncomfortable eating while the other is just looking. It can also feel sad and lonely. So, I very much prefer to date someone with as little food restrictions as possible.

06:25 I think that vegetarians are reluctant to date meat eaters, simply because of their living habits. This is like the difference in religious beliefs and political positions of some people, which will affect whether they can love each other or live together ,Maybe they want a more stable relationship, so people choose to avoid differences first

I keep kosher and I don't expect my partner to keep kosher. Its easier to cook for me because if it's pizza I just get cheese, if it's burgers I just get no cheese or mayo. However have you ever cooked for a vegetarian? With all the trouble of making them special vegetarian food that actually tastes good you just end up eating vegetarian food, too. And that gets old QUICK.
