Singer and songwriter Melanie Martinez stopped by JBTV Studios to play a few songs. After having great success on the popular televison show, The Voice, in 2012, Martinez went on to release music of her own. Her first album, Cry Baby, was released in 2015 and peaked at number 6 on the Billboard 200. Many of Martinez's songs have a creepy or haunting sound, in fact, her song Carousel was used in the a preview for American Horror Story: Freak Show. While at JBTV, she played the song Dead to Me, off of her 2014 EP, Dollhouse.

I was in a talent show and the first thing they taught us was to be very close to the mic when singing to be heard clearly and not have your words heard as mumbles.

The farther away you are from the mic, the louder they have to turn it up. This makes it so that the vocal mic will pick up other instruments and sounds on stage which makes it harder to find a good stage mix and can create mic feedback.
