If you're listening to this song, and your foot isn't tappin' and your head isn't bobbin', then you might be dead! Wow! For a dude from Scotland, Alan Gorrie (founding Average White Band member) sure does bring the FUNK! And you add Daryl Hall's amazing band to the mix, and it's a SOULFUL, funky good time!

Daryl's third solo album, "Soul Alone," featured writing collaborations with Alan Gorrie. (Hall and Oates' Band and Average White Band have both included Clyde Jones on bass, Clyde even appears on later seasons of LFDH on bass and vocals), Clyde has also toured as the lead vocalist with AWB. I once saw AWB, with Clyde Jones and Alan Gorrie, they opened for Hall and Oates (with T-Bone Wolk) in San Diego @Humphrey's By The Bay, the ending jam featured both bands playing, "Pick Up The Pieces," and iirc they covered the Delfonics' "Didn't I (Blow Your Mind This Time)." A good time was had by one and all! Good Times, Baby!

The year 1975. I'm listening to Casey Kasem and the American Top 40. I am a 13 yr old black kid in Charleston S.C. Casey introduces the next hit, "Pick up the pieces." By the Average White Band. After the song, Casey repeats the title and says all the way from Scotland, The Average White Band. I reacted: "What? Scotland. I thought these dudes were black and from the states!!"

That was just spectacular with a mess of fun on top! The musicians out did themselves....loved every bit...every solo! Kudos to your jammin' AWB's at Daryl's.

Funny T Bone story - my friend and I (our wives were mortified) were sitting up close at a Hall & Oates concert, and we kept yelling "T Bone, T Bone, T Bone" between songs. Finally, Daryl started cracking up and T Bone seemed embarrassed. We just loved the guy.
