That mini would be great for urban residential property developments... footings, driveways, and so on. That and a dump trailer, and you could probably build a whole service around that. But yes, back hoe/loaders have been in the US for quite a while. They mostly get used with utilities/city services work.

We actually do have a lot of backhoe loaders in the U.S. Independent farmers tend to use them quite frequently along with independent construction. Also we have versions of the tiny one that lots of people more affluent people use for their working on their land just around the house like you were talking about.

I was an electrician for 23 years and i was trained on a Backhoe for the purpose of trenching for pipe runs It was a common thing until the Mini excavator and Bobcat became more practical to transport

I believe the telehandler is called high-vis because of the low hight of the boom pivot. When the loader is down you are able to look over it easily compared to most other telehandlers have the boom mounted much higher in the rear where if the boom is down you can't see to your right at all. The boom being in the centre of the machine is standard design for telehandlers although JCB does do a similar design for their skid steer and CTL where it has a single boom to your right verses a boom on either side like a John Deere or Bobcat. I find with telehandlers having the boom mounted higher is better because you often carry the load higher (when the ground is level) especially when you are hanging something off the boom. You get full visibility to your right whereas with the boom design in the game blocks your view with the boom in any position but all the way up or all the way down.

JCB has a factory in Pooler , Georgia in the US. My father does construction and has several pieces of JCB equipment. Really good quality stuff.

They certainly do. I deliver JCBs from the factory in Staffordshire down to the port of Southampton, where most of the time they do end up in Pooler GA as you mention - Loadalls in particular.

It is most interesting that Squirrel mentions that the backhoe-loader might not be familiar to some viewers. As several have mentioned here, they are extremely common in the U.S. I own a 1970s John Deere 500C for use on my property and can attest to the fact that it is huge fun to operate. Now to persuade my wife that a bulldozer and excavator also are crucial… Incidentally, JSB equipment is not common here, with Cat, Deere and the Asian brands seen far more often.

the "site dumper" isn't a common machine yet in the usa, but, backhoes have been a staple for decades, even down to ones that are based off Garden Tractors... There are plenty of farms that have old derelict backhoes in the decommission lot...

My brother often calls a Backhoe Loader a JCB as if that's its actual name. I never knew JCB were to ones who INVENTED that vehicle.

JCB is nice, but over the years in commercial construction I’ve always preferred JLG and Bobcat because JCB hydraulics are more jumpy lol Nice video!

ive always thought backhoes were super common in north america, just not the european style with the boom that moves side to side

Great vid Paul, if you wanna also know little bit more on the history behind JCB for gregg Wallace did an episode of behind the factory where he went to jcb factory in Staffordshire, and the history behind its iconic colours aswell, along side cheery jerky and the historian Ruth thingy. Looking forward to seeing the jcb factory tour vid as always been past the factory plenty of times, as that’s also a land mark to hit when going towards the ever so famous theme park as you know you are close by when your seeing the jcb factory
