@@snowballengineering have you thought about doing a "voice over" for the bits you're wanting to explain? That way you can have it tuned in better and probably equalize the volume across the video. As others have said, if I have the volume to hear you, the music is blasting when it comes in, if I have the music set so it's not too loud, I can't hear you.

I won't pile on with the kill the music. If you MUST use it, it needs to be at a MUCH lower volume. A remote mic with a good wind filter will go miles to help with the narration. It also should have an adjustable automatic level control. (Compressor Limiter built in) That out of the way, I enjoy watching your work. Well equipped and well skilled. I'm not much of a welder, but I do muddle through. It is always useful to watch and learn from others. I would have had to SMAW weld all that as my GMAW machine doesn't have the capacity yours has. Nice plasma table! Back around yr 2000 my brother, a friend and I manufactured a turnkey 4X8 CNC plasma system in the states. Economy and under capitalization killed the company. I still have the 2nd machine at our little shop. But need to replace the motion controller/software as it is so obsolete now. Waiting for part two. Line boring is always fascinating to me.

Hello, I'm going back to your older videos after starting at the newest ones. Enjoy all of them. I know nothing of what you do or the technologies you use, but watch Cutting Edge Engineering and the YT algorithm did the rest. I'm simply impressed by how yo go about your work and how you see ways to fix things that look like black magic to me :) One thing struck me, and for the uninitiated maybe, just what and how some of the processes work - 'gouging' for an example. Maybe of limited use as you are up to 60 videos at 30th September 2023. Cheers and best of luck in your career.

I agree with a lot of the other comments. I liked the content and enjoy welding fabrication videos. I have subscribed because of this. See how you go. But I have the same issues as others. Firstly can't hear what you are saying. It would help a lot to know what you are doing and the thought process. But only catch snippets. And the backing tracks. Each to their own. But it was driving me mad. I will watch a few more but know if my audio problems persist it won't be for me. You have some good knowledge and skills though good luck with everything.

I wonder if jcb use spray transfer welding must be good penetration on those welds plenty on there by look of them nice wide fillets. Lot of stress on that part with ram pushing power. No wonder they break. We are enjoying your vids plenty of different content. Mark and ruth

Fun fact: A modest coat of the developer in your dye kit will make readings from an infrared temp gun more reliable, particularly on curved or shiny surfaces.

@@warrenjones744 This is because the developer will emit infrared light the way the temp gun expects. Here we get into emissivity, which is how much IR radiation a surface gives off at a particular temperature. At the same temperature a poor emitter (shiny metal, for example) will emit less than a good emitter (developer, electrical tape, skin, etc). It's hard with a temp gun but with an IR camera you can see that poor emitters reflect IR from other sources. Window glass makes a great example of this. Helpful?

I’ve looked up arc gouging & how it works but i still can’t work out how the air gets down the carbon rod that’s held in what looks like an arc welding clamp ?

The air blows out of 3 little holes in one of the jaws that holds the rod. It’s a special torch for the job.

While I don't mind the music, I DO mind the volume difference, I have to turn it down every time the music plays because it practically blows my eardrums out, but I have to turn it back up to hear your voice. IF you wish to use music to mask the noises, *PLEASE* tone down the music volume so us poor souls who use earphones aren't deafened!

Carbon arc gouging is quicker and easier, especially when the plates have been weld prepped and have multiple passes of weld.
