I've got both if you spent a week to get used to the merlo you would sell the jcb and buy a second merlo

We used to run merlo but after changing to a jcb equivalent there's no match .less fuel 2/3 less in the day .better working invitoment better heater/ Aircon and quieter . Jcb all the way .

Merlo is the best!!! Trust me

When the two machines were side by side, you can see an important diference, one that beats the hydraulic speed and leaves the Merlo at a serious disadvantage. The difference? Height from the ground and therefore centre of gravity and stability. The JCB is a what looks like a good six inches lower. JCB over the rest every day.

Ground clearance is not translated to a higher centre of gravity. The Merlo uses Drop portal axles designed for ground clearance. the rest of the machine is actually lower thanks to the height of the boom mounting, lower engine and driveline mounting. Overall the Merlo is a more compact machine with lower COG, But with the added plus of better ground clearance! I say it's a win for the Merlo.

I have a 2020 JLG 1075 but Im not in farming. I have it for use around the house and contracting. Telehandler was the only piece of equipment I kept after I "retired" at 40 after a most fortuitous large financial windfall (won 8 figures in the lotto). So I decided to take my 6,000 acres outside of the medium sized city I live near and make it my paradise. I can run full off grid if needed/wanted and I get to play with my handler all day long! I wish I had looked around a bit more though, I'm not disappointed but I could maybe have done better not picking JLG and going with JCB or Merlo but I don't even know off the top of my head if they are in the states. I use mine at least 3 days a week for some random project and my 16&17 year old daughters aside from loving machining and woodworking, started their own re saw business in 2019 when they were 14&15 now they make enough money they bought a brand new fully loaded F250 and also their own 2019 used cars. They use the handler all the time with the grapple for moving logs. They want to start some livestock and I think they will find a use for the handler there as well
