In order to score atleast 50% mark in Organic(CSIR NET/GATE) one must have all the basic knowledge of these topics 1. Stereochemistry(try to cover minimum 40-50% of concept mainly from BSc and go a bit for MSc concept) 2. Oxidation & Reduction (Inorder to know any organic reactions given to you) 3. Organic reactions(don't cover too much just do 30%) 4. Reagents(Very important, because no any organic reactions are without reagents/catalyst) It's only for those students with an average idea of organic chemistry like me😊,because I don't think it is the subject where you can ever become perfect or sometimes even good. Now, being a Physical Chemist and for those who are weak/average in it must cover this to crack GATE/CSIR NET 1. Chemical Kinetics (must, nearly all basic concepts) 2. Thermodynamics (just basic ideas) 3. Quantum mechanics( It's upto your understanding and capability to grab it, still never skip- 1D box, Perturbation theory and most importantly it's significance in chemical bonding) 4. Electrochemistry (just basics,around 25-30%) 5. Enzyme catalysis( Michaelis-Menten eqn, Line Weaver Burk plot and Eddie plot) 6. Gases(concept of fugacity, Vander waal's eqn of states) 7. Solid state(bcc,fcc,hcp arrangements,limiting radius ratio,perovskite& spinel structures, Wurzite and ZnS structures) 8. Spectroscopy(treat it special for Organic, Inorganic)- I recommend Organic spectroscopy by William Kemp 9. Polymer Chemistry(Basic ideas, including rate of polymerization) 10. Statistical Mechanics (partition function, residual entropy,degrees of freedom,Thermodynamic probability) and Basic Mathematical concepts(Calculas, complex numbers, binomial theorems,circles,straight lines, cones, trigonometry,probability,basic algebras) From Inorganic: 1. Organometallics(only- 18 electron rule, contribution of electrons by ligands like CO,pph3,pph2,allylic groups and isolobality) 2. *Coordination compounds(cover 60-70% of all concepts) 3. Bioinorganic chemistry(basic ideas) 4. 1st,2nd and 3rd periods transition elements,.. Okay and then say game over to any chemistry exam because the one who success to prepare all these topics they now have gain Narayanastra for this Subject...
