I use Amber. Take most shots with Amber set before the shot, then adjust tone & shadows afterwards. Note, the UI in Photos for Photographic Styles is way better in macOS than iOS.

I would like to „delete“ the oned that I dont use. Apple themselves saied that its better to apply the styls BEFORE taking the photo but there are so many styles that swiping between them would take very long. I just want to have my favourites so I can change them easily

Thanks for the video! Have you noticed if you change the style using the camera control it will reset your settings? I tried toggling on preserve photographic styles, but the camera control will still remove any of these adjustments you mentioned. If you have a workaround please lmk because i actually like using the camera control for this 🙏

Oh wow, I noticed sometimes they would reset and I couldn’t work out why! But you’re right, it’s the Camera Control 🥲 I’m guessing that’s a bug, so hopefully Apple will fix it!

Hi-tech playboy back from Greece! 😊Nice. Looks like you had great weather, fine food, and super opportunities to experiment with the new styles. (Cool shades, BTW). Tone slider a plus. To clarify, the new styles were ported to the iPad and Mac, one to one, yes? Reverting to cam defaults a big negative. There must be some way you can write a script to call up any of several different settings combinations. Re the “outside of frame” feature, I can see how that would be a plus when the phone is held horizontally - you would have a slight preview of subjects coming into the frame, no? How much of the new cam features were ported to some extent to the Apple Watch camera app? OK, what’s with the BloomCraft t-shirt?😊 Cheers!

Haha thanks Paul! Amazing weather and food! Yes the photographic Styles are one-to-one on Mac and iPad. But they can only be used with iPhone 16 photos. You can use the toggles in the Preserve Settings menu to remember the last settings used, instead of resetting. But yeah, no way to save different combinations of settings in the native app. Yeah, View Outside of Frame lets you see a preview from the Ultra Wide in case you wanna switch cameras. But personally I find it distracting, I know I can switch to the Ultra Wide if needed! No way to choose a Style from the Watch, you’ll have to set it from the phone. But you can always choose a Style afterwards even if captured with Standard. The shirt is just a shirt haha. Thanks for watching! ✌🏻

Thanks! Glad you think so! ProRAW strips back a lot of the processing, and leaves you with a big file with lots of image data. More for editing your photos after. But you can use the Styles at 48MP in HEIF Max!

Just bought iPhone 16 Pro yesterday and tested the camera app and immediately felt in love with photo styles, finally iPhone default camera app is usable again since photo styles make it worth it. For me style contrasty black and white ("stark" in English?) was amazing and I customized it with -100, -100, 50. Now those photos are very dark and contrasty, just like I like those to be. I love to shoot this kind of black and white photos with my Leica D-Lux (Typ 109) as well so maybe that's the reason why I felt in love immediately with these photographic styles. Photographic style (at least that b&w) seems to help a lot that photos do not look smartHDR crap anymore and those do not look annoyingly sharp anymore and that is a huge deal for me. Didn't except camera app to be very interesting on this one since it has been bad for years (SmartHDR, overly processed looks) so this was sooooo happy finding that now the iPhone camera is awesome for my photography style and my personal taste \o/

Yes, Tone -40, Colour +30, Palette 16 is what I’ve been using for Quiet. Was bright and sunny for those photos so might look a little different in other conditions ✌🏻

if youre putting the tone down to -50 you will lose the shadows, because the img processing makes everything flat and sharp so you will get more black tones. try to put the tone to +50 or put after every shot contrast by -20 out of the img for best results

To switch to a “Mood”, tap the square icon with dots in the top right corner of the camera app. Swipe to the left once and you’ll find Vibrant.

I was so hopeful that iPhone’s Photographic Styles would rival Pixel’s incredible color rendering. Sadly, they fell short. Pixel’s color accuracy is unmatched. Also is super difficult to adjust the Tone and Color in that little square using your finger.

My photographic style settings are almost the same as yours😅 except that I leave the colour at +10. Having used pixels phone and still using the pixel 9 pro I can’t stand photos with pop but prefer the dark contrasty look of the pixel photos. The amber, rose gold and gold undertones at -50 tone and +10 colour work so well in most cases and I select which undertone to use depending on the circumstances. I haven’t really experimented with the moods yet. NB: Does you camera use large amount of battery? Cos mine does and I wonder if it has to do with all the processing power utilitized with photographic styles.

The photographic styles on the iPhone 16 Pro are meh, they are definitely different and definitely gives you more flexibility. But straight out of the camera No editing the Pixel 9 Pro XL, it’s way better.

Love the Undertones. Yeah it does maybe feel like the camera uses more battery this year. But I have also been shooting a fair bit of 120fps to try it out which definitely requires a lot of power!
