I’m considering going with a powered sub to add a little bass to my factory stereo, wondering if should go with the Rockford fosgate 300 watt that goes frequency response: 35-200 Hz or if I should spend the extra $140 and get the 500 watt that has a frequency response: 20-200 Hz, that seems to be the only difference is a little bit deeper bass. Curious what watt your amp is and what you think I should go with

I have a 2016 Chevy Malibu and it doesn’t have rca outputs on my head unit. How would I tap in to the speaker wires if I don’t have rear deck speakers?
@JCTFIXIT
@JCTFIXIT 3 жыл бұрын
Run from rear door speakers into panel between front and rear doors then down under carpets to back seats to trunk. If your amp doesn't have a high level input, you will need a line converter. It takes the speaker signal and dumbs it down and switches it to rca to go into your amp.

@JCTFIXIT
@JCTFIXIT 2 ай бұрын
Your wording is a little confusing. Without knowing your setup, it's hard to say. Generally though on an amp, the rca inputs are for signals that are low and not being driven already. High level inputs are called such because they can handle a higher watt load incoming into the amp.

My high input speaker to tap into the factory speaker has 5 wires white/black plain white gray and gray and black and then just plain black what’s the black one for? Cause the white and gray is for positive and negative but can’t figure out what the 5th one goes to

Your wiring to speakers is not right, or perhaps not grounded.

For generic speaker wire, walmart or amazon would have it. I would recommend 16 gauge or 14 Guage is even thicker.

Thank you for this! When tapping into the factory speaker (not a woofer), can I just use one of the speakers?

How do you get to the trunk speakers
@JCTFIXIT

Not 100% sure what you mean. My car has a factory sub. If you don't have one, you can tap into your rear speakers which may be in the doors.

Did you disconnect negative terminal before installing the power cable
@JCTFIXIT
@JCTFIXIT 2 жыл бұрын
That's good practice yes. Usually I run all the cable first and them hook up to the battery very last.

Do you have to tap into a factory sub or can it be regular speakers
@JCTFIXIT
@JCTFIXIT 2 жыл бұрын
You can tap into regular speakers. I tapped sub because of location.
