You did a really good detailed review. At first i felt reserved paying the premium price for this monitor. But after watching your video, i am convinced the price is justified. No point getting a monitor with a bigger screen on my tiny L shape desk (using the same budget). The fact that the footprint of the monitor stand has shrunk is a big plus point for me!

Hi James This the best review that I found over Dell P2419H. I'm going to buy a P2219H, because my old Sony HS75P is already 15 years old and it appeared some bright pixels on the screen. Unfortunatelly, after 15 years I need to get rid of it, because it's impossible to find a new screen. Great Job!

I like the way you review the product. Very informative for non-geek guys )). I was looking for monitor for codding, and was thinking among Dell, HP, Samsung and LG. The biggest plus for Dell is adjusting pad + many usb port for wireless gadgets. After this video I am sure to get this one.

Great review! Quick question given that this monitor doesn't have an audio port would it still be possible to use Bluetooth headphones or connect wired headphones directly to a laptop connected to the monitor for audio use? And is there any audio port adapter available to connect to the monitor?

Shouldnt have any issues with connecting directly to your laptop for audio. Must make sure the correct audio output is selected. If you want to connect something to your monitor, you can look at USB audio adaptors.

Great review man, I got myself this monitor but I am not able to make it fill out the whole screen with my MacBook Pro, is there a difference if I use hdmi? I have black spaces at the sides, top and bottom? If you know I would appreciate it, love the monitor.

Thanks! It's probably a resolution issue. Make sure the resolution you've got set on MacOS is 1920x1080 for the monitor. Shouldn't be a difference for HDMI/DisplayPort.

Pros have been stated in this video. Cons, depends on what your uses are. Not many for this, maybe besides that it's being superceded by a newer model. It's a good everyday/all-use monitor, but if you're specific for gaming or specific for colour accuracy, you might want to look elsewhere.

Honestly, if you take good care of your monitor (i.e just leave it there and not move it around and don't abuse it), it'll be fine for years, you won't need Dell ProSupport, especially for this price range. If you were buying like $1-2k+ maybe I'd consider. No flickering as of yet, only positives :)

I would say, just get two P2419H, and put one in portrait mode so you can look at code more effectively. The U2419H is only for those who really need colour accuracy, which in coding you don't really need. So spend the money you would use on one U2491H and but two P2419H :)

It pretty much just allows you to use the monitor like a USB hub. You shouldn't notice (and there shouldn't be) any latency or lag when using it.

It's an "LED-backlit LCD monitor" No issues with using HDMI to connect with MacBook Pro to get it as a second screen.

Panel is probably the same, the only difference is physical and newer model in general. Thinner bezzels and smaller base stand. I would go for P2419H if you can afford it.

in my country p217h is more expensive than p2419h ,,,, i wonder why famous review website like forbs or rtings cnet and bhphotovideo .... all saying p2417h , as best 24 inches monitor , they said it has much srgb and dynamic contrast that makes images or pictures or text looks crystal sharp clear , but my question is , is it just a numbering model as p2417h or it also marks as manufacturing year ! You'll need to plug in the USB down stream cable as well as the display cable to make use of the USB ports. Neither HDMI or Display Port sends USB data.

You can do data as well. Just make sure you've got the USB downstream cable connected to your computer as well as the display cable :)

Just treat it like you would with any other USB hub. It acts in the exact same way, except its attached to a monitor. In terms of bit, not sure. I just know it's 16.7m colours. You can check out Dell's website for full specs.

P series is good enough for you then. Ultrasharp is usually only for those who really need an accurate display for colours.

Love the review! I picked up this monitor today and so far love it! I have noticed what appears to be under scan when using it with my Mac. I get a black bar around the screen very similar size to that in your video. Have you noticed this or found a way to adjust it? When I go to System Preferences > Displays I don't see a way to adjust the under scan.

If you do "Option" and click "Scale", it should show underscan options. But I don't think I've had issues with this personally, but I don't really use this monitor with my Mac so can't say for sure. But as you can see in this video, I didn't have any underscan issues.

In the video there's no underscan issue. There's about a 1/4" black border around the screen which is normal. Even though there is no "bezel" as there are in older/cheaper monitors, it's not an infinity screen. A small amount of black border is normal.
