As I understand it, F7 has the notes F A D# Where as the D7 chord shape you describe has the notes of F C D# However these are the notes for the F7sus4 chord, and are not the notes of F7. The same thing with your description of the G7 chord shape. The notes being G B D F#, but the notes from your chord shape description are GDF, which are the notes of A#6. Am I missing something here? Other wise this is a nice easy Blues in C with riff tutorial.
@jcurtis30water3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your feedback. The F7 ( F,C,D#) is an F7 . F is the root, C is the 5th and D# is the Dominant 7. If it was a sus 4, it would need a Bb. G7 ( G,D,F) the G is the root D is the 5th and F is the dominant 7. These inversions don’t have a 3rd, so they can be confused with other chords. If you listen, you will hear that they work. Enjoy that ukulele!

I hate correcting people who are clearly smart than me and have more experience. Having said that... THE CHORDS: I can't emphasize enough how beautiful this chord progression is ❤, but it is not C, F7, G7. The chords you are playing are C, Fsus4, Gsus4, but I still LOVE it! THE SCALE: Yours: C, Bb, G, F, E, D Actual: C, A, G, E, Eb, D This is the scale that matches your sus4 chords: C, Bb, G, F, Eb, D (if nothing else, you need an Eb to make a C Major and your scale lacks it). Thank you for forcing me to understand music theory a little better. 😀
@jamyc.580010 ай бұрын
Now I am rethinking the Fsus4 and Gsus4, but your F7 and G7 don't line up with what any version I can find. However your F7 still sounds like an Fsus4. Which makes no sense to me. I still contend the chords, lick, and turnaround sound great! ❤

I wish you would explain the strumming a little more, are you strumming all 4 strings, or only three? I’m very confused.
@jcurtis30water4 жыл бұрын
When I strum, I’m strumming all 4 strings. If I’m strumming down and up I usually only get 2 or 3 strings on the upstroke. As long as you play the lick correctly, you can strum 3 or 4 strings, it won’t matter. Thanks for watching!

hey john, first of all: im a german pupil, sorry for my english im bad in this language. Ive one question: I got a blues ukulele (from Gretsch) i would be very happy if i could start with playin on the uke but is it right that i have to change the sound if i dont want to play a blues? i love blues but because im starting to learn i think it would be easier if there are other possibilitys. Thank you for your answer love ur videos so much! love the sound of a uke etc. :D
@monse4958 жыл бұрын
i meant tune,not change the sound 😀
@jcurtis30water8 жыл бұрын
+monse You don't need to change the tuning. I am using standard tuning G.C.E.A. You can drop the G string down an octave, but you would have to use a thicker wound string. Thanks and have fun!

im confused by your f7? on all the chord sheets i look at its 4th string 2nd fret, 3rd string 3rd fret, 2nd string 1st fret, am i missing something???
@jcurtis30water5 жыл бұрын
Yes, the F7 is usually played as you indicated. For this video I’m using a different fingering, it is actually called an F9, but can be used instead of the F7. I’m doing it because I like the sound better. You can use the regular F7 and D7 if you want and put the riff in. Hope this answers your question.

Not quite sure what you mean, but here is the chord progression: /C7/C7/C7/C7/ /F7/ F7/ C7/C7/ /G7/F7/C7/G7/ The little riff or lick is played instead of the chords on measures 1,3,5&7. The turnaround is played instead of the last 2 measures. Hope this is helpful.
