JDAM LOFT

This was just some experimentation with trying to loft JDAMs at various ranges. Note that JDAMs in the Razbam Strike Eagle module is still very WIP and there are many bugs still left to deal with. And that's not even taking into account the Multi-crew desyn issues. But JDAMs do work and they can be a lot of fun if you're prepared to work around some of the yet to be resolved kinks.
This was not meant to be a tactical scenario, just more of a training/experimentation run to see if the JDAM Loft was viable in game. Its definitely a "Thing" in the real jet, but the loft symbology is not implemented in game yet. So we're kinda winging it.

So many runs with me pulling my hair as my trusty pilot waits for me to get the right bombs selected to give coords for that nice 6 drop salvo, only to fly over and go arind over and over again... me never understanding how it someties work when i flip progs all over the spot. lol.. tnx :D (said pilot sent me this vid with timestamps and said "watch the frekkin video" in a helping manner)

Notso with the 30 degree loft, me and my wso have found we can start the loft at 10nm on the deck at 50-100ft and all bombs make it easily (for context this is done against patriot/sa-10 sites on a server that uses skynet script) Edit: loft performed at Mach 1.2

Same, come in low knocking some squirrels off their perches, pup up at 5-7 miles withing the optimal zone, and giggle on the hard crank out back the same direction you came from to rebuzz the same squirrels.

Yep, if you're fast - you obviously can lob them from further. However, irl - the GBU-38s have a 600/.95M speed limit for release. So I was trying to be realistic. With GBU-31 on the CFTs, you can "legally" go up to 660/1.3M. Those limits are not enforced in game (yet) so go as fast as your realism conscious will allow.

@@notso4966 I know it's 4 weeks later...but there are certainly some sort of speed limits enforced in game... I've ripped part of my wing off and the associated side's ordinance from exceeding a certain speed while diving to the deck to avoid SAM's with JDAMs. this has happened multiple times. I thought I was getting partial damage from the SAM hit until I caught it in TacView and the missile was nowhere near me. This damage, despite being still alive and flyable) makes me disappear from TacView, in-game F-10 map, WebGCI, and makes me invisible to enemy forces. I may or may not have taken advantage of this newfound "stealth" to simply orbit airfields and drop my remaining ordinance on "blind" air defenses before returning to base for repair lol.

Great vid! My question is on the HUD release cues, distance etc, are the displayed headings and distance using the last designated tgt or the current steerpoint (I think it was 2.A in the vid)?. Since there are multiple tgts in the same area, it would make sense that it would be the steerpoint, kind of a central hub.

No, its the latest designated TGT that is transferred to the bomb. The HUD is showing you range and eventually the ASL to whatever is loaded into the bomb in priority.

DOH! Maybe I should CAREFULLY read your post! Its the last tgt designated AND transferred to the bomb in priority (I take it RELEASE priority), so LA, RA, LF, RF, LC, RC if all CFT stations are loaded.

Within a station like on one CFT the bomb release order is set for center of gravity management so no.

I'm pretty sure he's using physical MFD controllers to do it. I've got the winwing ones, and it would look just like this if I recorded, since I don't use the mouse to interact with the in game MFDs.

i dont believe there is but i use my autoacq switch button since it is a 5 way hat vs the 3 needed for the stike eagle and map them to the mfd push button that i typically use the smart weapons page on. just a easier work around since i dont have an mfd and dont use a wso.
