Update! The jdm engine we recieved had a different lower engine Mount bracket. The axels wouldn’t clear, you need to change over the bracket to the US version

Did you have to get a different ecu for the jdm engine?
@johnsmithnonya463 ай бұрын
He demonstrated that he didn't do that because he moved over the throttle body, wiring harness, etc., all to plug and play with the USDM ECU, in order to avoid dealing with ECU/immobilizer issues.
@kevinstafford94663 жыл бұрын
I wish I would have known about the throttle body. The idle can’t adjust properly and it throws a check engine code. Sure would have been a lot easier to swap it when the engine was out.

I cant seem to find anywhere, but do the jdm blocks have any reputation for cracking like the usdm blocks? If not then I'm gonna start keeping my eye open for a car with a bad motor and then pick up a jdm swap

No i never do. I have installed about 25 of these engines and have never had a problem with any of them. They always fire right up with fresh oil and a new oil filter.

Anyone know if the jdm ebay engines are the same as the us r18s but in stick shift? I'm looking at getting one from a stick model to swap so it already has the flywheel

Question, I bought the same JDM motor. How did u convert the ac sensor? The US one has 3 pins and JDM has one. Pls let me know thanks!
@shawnh96774 жыл бұрын
Use your US harness and your US ac compressor.
@kirbinipales48124 жыл бұрын
Thanks for this video man. I couldn’t find any other videos that did the whole swap including motor and tranny. I ended up rewiring the ac compressor sensor. My US ac compressor doesn’t work anymore. My original motor has 311k mi so I decided to do the swap. Done with the swap tonight no check engine or anything. Hope the ac works when I charge it. Thank again!

Hello Shawn! I would like to buy the same engine, because i got crack on my engine block 2007 EX. I have manual transmission on it. Is it a different connection to engine for automatic and manual? I mean if i will buy only the engine. Thank you
@shawnh96777 жыл бұрын
nope it is the same engine you will just have to swap out your flywheel off your old motor to the new one.

cheaper, lower mileage, tested in condition than a salvage yard USDM version mystery
@johnsmithnonya463 ай бұрын
to answer your question fully, Japan is dumb and makes it very cost ineffective to own your car beyond 100,000 KM (about 60,000 mi) for emission regulations purposes and most people scrap their cars by then and buy a new car in japan. This is why JDM engines are such a big thing in USA. Why pay the same price for a 150k+ mile engine when you can buy one with 35-70K miles from japan that comes with a warranty, is cheaper, and is guaranteed compression tested etc.
