JDMIS Jewellery Design School Grand Opening School Tour

This weekend marked the unveiling of the JDMIS-MDIS joint venture and the grand opening of the new JDMIS facilities within the MDIS unicampus in Stirling Road in Singapore.
We were able to sneak Tanja away from the opening activities for 15 minutes to give us a quick tour of the 5200sqf facilities at JDMIS and to talk a little about some of the 30 designers being showcased in the Creative Jewellery Studio, the JDMIS designer co-operative boutique that showcases the best and brightest of JDMIS students and graduates.

Hi Tafique! Thanks for your message... We are a trade school - so we primarily teach adults either in the jewellery trade or wanting to enter the jewellery trade. Unlike many academic schools, our learger age tends to be a little older. Our minimum age is 16; the average age of participants is 30+ years old and our oldest participants have discovered their passion for the jewellery arts in their 60s and 70s!

Hi Minnu, Sorry for the late reply - your comment was flagged for review and we only just caught it. Many creative people enter the jewellery industry as a second career or start their journey in jewellery as a side-line while managing their family commitments. The nice thing about our industry is that you can be creative in so many different ways! You don't have to stick to diamonds and gold - many designers think out of the box and find customers that appreciate their creativity in creating accessories that are stunning even without being of high value. Its a great place to start since the investment is very low. I hope you make the decision to explore your creative passion and enjoy the journey! Have a great day.
