Although I’m new to your channel & have only seen bits & pieces of the old & new layouts I wouldn’t let the dismantling depress you. You will always have great memories of the old one. The new & improved layout will provide you even greater memories. Plus the opportunity to try newer & different techniques will be endless. So take your time & enjoy the adventure. Also stay safe & well & have a great Memorial Day.

Jason, seeing you take down the old layout has me feeling conflicted because I see all that you and your dad did together in building this beautiful piece, but I also see the growth of your new layout and I am comforted by the fact that you will have pieces of the old layout repurposed on the new layout. You and your dad’s legacy continues on in the new layout and I am so glad that I have been apart of this journey for many years of its growth and seeing you become this beautiful and successful person, I hope for nothing, but the best and cannot wait for the new layout to fully come together. ❤️

I was able to watch your progress on your old layout and it will be great to follow the new one, as I am also creating my new layout, congratulations!

It's also a sign of progress, just like transitioning from university to career...there were some things that had to be sacrificed and new things to incorporate into your mindset. It's painful at times, but it's a process of moving on from 'good to better'! What is remarkable to me is how carefully you have approached this final phase in the same way you have been able to achieve remarkable progress on the new layout...neatly with a clear goal! Cheers!

Thank you Tom. Its certainly a big transition. A bit emotional. Big undertaking. But its been worth it. I've learned so much. And I've never been so excited to be a part of this hobby.

Jason I started watching your videos back in 2010 when you used old VHS video boxes to hold up part of your layout where the bridge would later be. I knew at the time that you were a teenager building a layout in your parents home. Which inevitably meant someday your old layout would come down. So as I will miss your old layout, I am even more excited to watch you build your new layout with more space to do FUN and COOL new things.
@JDStucks3 жыл бұрын
So glad to hear you've been watching for over 10 years! Those VHS boxes were definitely a site to see haha. Glad you're excited like me to watch the new layout go up.

@@JDStucks ... I can relate ... some years ago, I finally dismantled the layout in my parent's attic ... built when I was 14 yrs old ... never fully completed but was able to transfer the elements to my final layout I now have ... a collection of over 65 years, the Lionel accessories, bridges, and scratch built structures still adorn and bring sweet memories ... parent's now passed ... the family home sold in 2018 with remnants of a lifelong hobby still in the attic ... also sad but a reflection of life ...

Sad to see, but the bright side is that with your channel the old layout has been immortalized by the magic that is the internet, as you pointed out in the video. You and PghTrainFanatic's layouts were big inspirations for me to finally build my own O scale layout (something I'm working on currently), which I'd wanted to do since I was a kid, so thanks for that!

Sucks you had to take apart your old lay out and cant integrate it into the new one. I totally understand you learn from your mistakes just like me building my truck. Im happy to watch your videos and others and learning from mistakes before I build mines. Wish you luck on yours, can't wait to see how it comes along.
@chiane19683 жыл бұрын
Love your videos. It's just amazing how much room a proper O scale layout takes up. I hope you will have some cool bridges, terrain variation, and interesting turnouts going in the new layout. I always find railway features more interesting than roads and town elements.

As sad as it is to say goodbye to the old layout the new layout is only a continuation of what you learned and not an end. You are so fortunate to have it all documented on KZbin. Keep up the great work!

Absolutely! Most of it is being re-used and re-purposed anyway. Its more of the basement I'm saying goodbye to than anything.

@@JDStucks I have recently purchased a great deal of items from someone that’s helping a friend tear down his layout due to age. I always think about the pain of seeing something that you built and enjoyed having to come down, but then I think about how my new layout will have a piece of this man’s old layout. I am giving new life, so to speak, to these structures, track and scenery. I know it’s going to be all worth it when your vision is fulfilled and I am excited for the journey.

The new layout does seem like it should be a lot better. Although I’m surprised because i would have thought you’d try getting all the rolling stock and the buildings over to the new layout asap

I'm bringing as much up as I can at a time. Once I have more shelves brought up and the 3rd level built I should be able to bring all the remaining rollingstock. Buildings are coming up one car load at a time now.

Yes Jason, I have been watching you since the beginning. Fun times and it is still mind boggling how the time has passed. It's definitely sad to see the layout that put you "on the map" go but because you documented it so well it will always be there. How much time in a week do you spend working on your railroad? I’m probably twice your age-and I have the aches and pains to prove it😁 And sometimes when I find some time to get to the layout, once there-I find I forgot to bring sufficient motivation 😝 And I end up listening to a few trains idling and talking- And I do some contemplating and imagining how I could scenic my Railroad. And progress seems to go in reverse because it stops so suddenly 🤪 So, tell me you aren’t always as productive as it seems you are...😃
@JDStucks3 жыл бұрын
Don't feel bad. Most evenings I go into the basement planning to do work I end up just standing around thinking and imagining. I probably only do a couple hours of work on it a week. I'll plan out an entire day occasionally if I'm ready to make some big progress.
