At 415htz, on a copy of an old instrument, in an old palazzo, a piece by D'Anglebert played freely and emotionally by Mencoboni - "What else do you need?" - I need to hear it again and again...

What a nice coincidence. For the first time in a while I look for some D'Anglebert pieces and I see this upload from 15 minutes ago!

THIS ANGLEBERT IS VERY TOUCHI9NG AND ALMOST HYPNOTIC, BUT ANGLEBERT HAS NO THEMES TO DEVELOP, IT IS JUST A MEANDERING THOUGH THE VARIOUS KEYS AS HE PLEASES. IMAGINE IF BACH OR SCARLATTI WOULD JUST DOODLE AT THE KEYBOARDS WITHOUG ANY DEVELOPMENTS OR EVENTS?

I've recently understood French Baroque as being more akin to rhetoric than singing (German or Italian would be more like singing). Particularly so for a tombeau which is to me more a eulogy in music than a "song without words". The hypnotism for me is the amazing ability for the phrasing and harmony to convey sighs, lamentations, and all sorts of emotion without the idea of developing a common motif

Absolute musical illiteracy! Here the notes are collected individually. The harpsichord sings and does not breathe! Assoluta analfabetismo musicale! Qui le note sono "raccolte" singolarmente. Il clavicembalo non canta e non respira!

He follows the french voice tune. What do you want?
