I just found out Jean Laffite is my fathers great grandfather! My father was the son of Henri albert Laffite from France! He was not married to my grandmother, he had a wife in France and 3 other children! My father was born in Honduras , his mother was Concepcion Murillo aka Concha. I have photos with signatures on the back of them. My father use to tell us pirate stories , we never took him serious! Fabulous. Lafitte has both legitimate and illegitimate descendants all over the world. Google Melvyn Lafitte. He is another direct descendant living in Switzerland I believe. He confirms one of the many stories about him. Lafitte's family name is really Lafitto. His family two generations prior to his were Sephardic Jews in Spain and were expelled in exile in France. His grandmother instilled a life long hatred for the Spanish in him. They were his primary prey as a Pirate/Privateer.
