I am so happy that people that people are finally getting to see some of his amazing work over the years he was actively painting. What an Unbelievable exhibit by the two sisters....He was a TITAN in his time there is no doubt about in my opinion💪! Jean-Michel painted more paintings than more artists do in a life time.. I am a Huge fan of all Basquiat's work.. One of my favorite painting that Basquiat's painted which is the - Leonardo DA VINIC painting. 🔥🔥.. Anyhow, I guess some people will never get his work and some will just like Jackson Pollocks style paintings! Here is one of my favorite quotes by - Pablo Picasso - '' It took him 4 yrs to draw like the Masters like - Michelangelo and Raphael, but it took him a life time to draw like a child'' Whats funny is you hear a lot of people that are not familiar with his work say o my kid can draw that, well lets see your kid draw like a pure genius like Jean-Michel Basquiat was... He was so far ahead of his time with zero guidance it was not even funny..After Andy Warhol passed away it rocked his world... It was a very said day in the art world when #SAMO died😢😢...

I saw the gallery the day after you, it was absolutely incredible and his family has contributed to his legacy well. Each corridor has a theme with unique underlying tonality and feeling. His use of color is also wonderful. Even though the tickets were quite expensive it was well worth the experience, I felt like I got to know about his true self a little better in addition to how documentaries and films presented him.

It's one thing to see a Basquiat painting and enjoy his amazing visions but charging $100/person to see it is blasphemy. He would never have approved. Art exists to communicate to all, not just those folk who can dole out $100 per to see his work. Shame on those who masterminded this CAPITALIST ripoff that not only undermines Basquiat's POV but this entire event promotes this newly sprung-up format to bilk the public monetarily for the delight of enjoying artwork. For a "publicly" endowed museum it is another step forward in the degradation of culture and another step forward for the Almighty Dollar. -THE LIVING THEATRE

I agree 100%, and the relatives totally botched the catalog, which has a full page of portraits of blues musicians by R. Crumb, and no credit to him, anywhere in the book. They didn’t have a editor, they repeatedly make inane, obvious, and repetitious statements which make it look like they themselves didn’t even bother to proofread the text.

@@artefuse Look, I totally realize that there is no use discussing this artist with any of his fans. I am NOT one. I have studied fine art all my life, including with some of the very top art historians at Ivy League university. I also have won countless art awards, shown in museums, been collected by museums, etc. I even used to do screen prints for Basquiat's pal Warhol. But I also have a keen eye for real talent, and a serious appreciation for the countless truly great artists over the millennia. I don't expect you to accept my word, but I shall state it anyway: Basquiat is a certain type of celebrity, nothing more. He has zero artistic talent. I don't care what the high auction prices say; that is just a money game played by the filthy rich.
