Ill admit i even lied and said i was in one of his shows that is how good this man is!!! LOL.. I remember when they gave him that award back in the 90's in LA. I stood out there trying to be one of those models picked. The only other designer in this category of extravagance is John Galliano.

Gaultier was my first fashion crush and my first major fashion purchase. I got one of his iconic tattoo mesh tops in 1999 with the wheel of the zodiac on the front and brown tie dye on the back and sleeves. I still have it, I keep it wrapped in tissue paper and it still fits. Adore him. He was so influential in the UK, we love him. His Breton stripes, the conical bra, his hilarious show Euro Trash with Antoine. Just a genius mind, incredible couturier, costume designer (The Fifth Element), enfant terrible, early champion of diversity and street casting and all round lovely human. And his wit, just so irreverent.

I just bumped into this channel by chance didn't have time to watch the interview yet it... I just want to say one thing or two about Sis Naomi.... Having lived in Paris during the 80's, sister Naomi was such an inspiration. At that time, there weren't many black queens in the fashion industry.... However, in the Music and Sport industries, black people were ruling the world. Michael Jackson, Lionel Richie, Stevie Wonder, Shade, Tina turner... Michael Jordan, Mike Tyson... And there was Naomi Campbell, a name as famous as the others. When Naomi made a clip with Michael Jackson, we all thought it was normal routine. She was destined to be with the greatest.... Although I am a male, she was an inspiration to all of us. Life was tough in Paris back then for a young African I am (from Dr Congo). She made us believe in ourselves. She was at the top of an industry completely dominated by whites. I will simply like to take this opportunity to thank her from the bottom of my heart 💓. Also, I believe that it's great time we AfriKans start to honour and celebrate our heroes, pioneers,.... No one is going to do it for us. If we respect our heroes, others will take notice and respect them.... We can lift our nations if we lift our own children!!! And believe me, Naomi is one of us! I am 52 years old now. I will make sure I build a nice and beautiful sculpture (statue) of Naomi in my village with a beautiful inscription before I leave this planet 😂😂😂 Honestly, we need to start somewhere, somehow 😂😂🙏🙏🙏🙏

His work on the fifth element film was nothing short of amazing. It's one of the best sci fi films ever made and part of that is the fashion, the aesthetic of 90s yet over the top camp ridiculousness. He did a wonderful job on that film.

When I think of Jean Paul Gaultier, Madonna's legendary 1990 Blonde Ambition Tour comes to mind. I saw his exhibit at the de Young Museum in San Francisco of his work and Madonna's famous cone shaped bustier she wore in the concert was on display. Madonna is a very small girl but aside from her, Gaultier is a fashion visionary and he's an amazing artist. Much respect to this man.

I was lucky enough too meet Mr. Gaultier in the late 1980's in Soho, at the now defunct Canal Jeans Co.where i worked. I chatted with him and acted like such a fan gushing and complimenting his ability to design,as I was a student at FIT at the time . I think I may be of the very few who has a sketch from Jean Paul Gaultier,I met him in sohso in the 80's and we chatted for a little while, I praised his work, he like my boots, he then sketched a picture of Madonna when he was designing the Blond Ambition Tour. Such a nice man, so happy and eager too hear from a kid on the street, who really likes his work. Naomi Campbell what can I say, there no words too even say how a black woman in her own way changed the way people view black beauty, thank you

❤ such a precious Soul for the fashion world….. I had the privilege to be invited to a casting in Vienna around 1993 and he chose me and told me I could be flying to Paris, London, New York and Milano working as a model, I was at nursing college at that time was not confident enough to trust in my abilities and my grandma told me years later that they had been calling even after months trying to reach me sadly…. Those days no cellphones and my aunt never told me a word about the phone calls…. I could have been walking the runway’s with you Naomi and could have had the opportunity to be wearing those wonderful creations of the marvelous designers …. I often think about those times where my life could have taken a different turn ❤ regret to have missed to be working with him

Ok so Im a NYC hairstylist now but when I was going to beauty school i worked as a roomservice waiter at The Royalton hotel and Gaultier used to stay there. He is truly a sweetheart and humble. He had ordered alot of food because i think he had people over and he called for to pickup trays. The man was so sweet that he was helping me, which I didnt need him to do that but i found it very sweet, especially since the other guy in the room was saying, what are you doing thats his job let him do it and Gaultier kept saying oh shut up its alot of stuff and its my room I can do what i want and on top of that hes a big tipper..
