My Uncle Walter was a submarine commander towards the end of WWII. He was also a pilot. He told me a story about an "Embarrassing Moment in Flight" that he had after WWII in a B-17. He was the pilot, and an Air Force pilot was his co-pilot. The Navy had certain hand signals that were used between pilots and co-pilots. The Air Force used different hand signals. As they were rolling down the runway preparing to take off, one of them gave the signal to raise the landing gear, but the plane wasn't going fast enough to take off, so when the landing gear were raised, the plane belly flopped onto the runway causing significant damage to the plane. No one on the plane was hurt physically, but they were definitely embarrassed.

Shep telling tall tales today😂 BTW I work in Secaucus (ha, hooking like a barnacle on the side of New York). And I think that Te Amo cigar store is still in Secaucus, or at least it was there a few years ago.🤔

I believe that same guy voicing the St Maarten commercial also voices another commercial on another Shep clip here on KZbin. I noticed in the other commercial that the guy doesn't pronounce his "R's", making me wonder if the guy was "believable" for that other commercial subject. Interesting that Shep also picked up on the guy's accent like I did. I'll link it here if I come across it again. Shep believes the guys accent is appropriate here, i gotta reevaluate my thoughts on that other commercial. I think i remember that guy pronouncing surfer as "suhfah." Late edit: now i remember my 'believable' point: Since the narrator didn't pronounce his "R"s, I thought the guy narrating the other commercial was a Brooklyn NY, Jersey City, NJ native, whch seemed out of place for someone talking about surfing, and I think it was a beah [beer] commercial. 🍺

That's the voice of Geoffrey Holder. He was in "Live and Let Die" and "Annie". kzbin.info/www/bejne/d3e0k4WbrbFoha8si=Vy-J8XFR9MQECl-u www.imdb.com/name/nm0390305/

@greenteablend - Awesome connection! I remember him in his commercial: "This is a Cola nut...and (holding up a lemon-lime) this is an 'Un-cola nut.'" ...And IMHO "Live and Let Die" is one of, if not THE, richest Bond movie in excitement and content. I remember also seeing this guy in a movie where a high level executive work associate had entrusted him to come up with a commercial for a very important client. And in front of the important client, they screened the commercial, consisting of an irrelevant, absurd, and bizarre motif, culminating in a female model wearing a 'dress' consisting of loosely-woven sticks, making a shrill scream, holding the product up. The trusting executive sunk into his chair, while this guy was enjoying every moment of his 'creation', with orgasmic intensity. One of the most hilarious scenes I've ever seen in a movie🤣

@@cmans79tr7 Geoffrey Holder also had a WOR radio show from 1969 to 1972. His show was on weekends.

@greenteablend - Well, that's interesting too. He obviously had the voice for it. I wonder what he talked about on the show🤔 I looked him up on wiki and found he was also a dancer. Maybe we can find clips on YT of him talking on WOR and / or of 🕺

Of course, Shep uses Beethoven's Fifth, which uses Morse Code as backing music: dot dot dot dash, the letter V for victory
