A convincing performance of one of my favourite Sibelius works ​- to better appreciate how brilliantly the composer captured Maeterlinck's metaphysical, fatalist work, it helps to study a synopsis of the play. The movements are: 0:09 _At the Castle Gate_ (Prelude from Act I, scene 1) 3:46 _Mélisande_ (Prelude from Act I, scene 2) 8:18 _At the Seashore_ (Melodrama from Act I, scene 4) 10:30 _A Spring in the Park_ (Prelude from Act II, scene 1) 12:52 _The Three Blind Sisters_ (Mélisande's Song from Act III, scene 2) 15:23 _Pastorale_ (Melodrama from Act III, scene 4) 17:24 _Mélisande at the Spinning Wheel_ (Prelude from Act III, scene 1) 19:39 _Entr'acte_ (Prelude from Act IV, scene 1) 22:44 _The Death of Mélisande_ (Prelude from Act V, scene 2).[3]

His incidental music sounds so different from the symphonies. Love them both. King Christian II suite is nice.
