Klare und wunderschöne Aufführung dieser spätromantischen und nordisch komponierten Sinfonie mit gut harmonisierten und perfekt entsprechenden Tönen aller Instrumente. Der dritte Satz klingt besonders lebhaft und spannend. Der junge und intelligente Maestro dirigiert das perfekt trainiserte Orchester im gut phrasierten Tempo und mit perfekt kontrollierter Dynamik. Wahrlich hörenswert!

La musique est un art tellement fort ...On touche là aux vibrations les plus subtiles...j'ai pu accompagner à la batterie des artistes de tous les styles en jazz comme la célèbre organiste Rhoda Scott par exemple , j'ai enseigné la batterie mais j'ai étudié aussi les percussions classiques(deux prix ) à une époque de ma vie avec Francis Brana (percussionniste de l'orchestre de Paris )et Robert Chazal plus spécialisé dans le tambour , deux professeurs formidables , j'ai eu trois prix aussi de batterie en musique "actuelle" , avec l'âge la musique classique me parle encore plus, écouter cette merveille , voir ce chef qui vit la musique avec tant d'intensité...magnifique ! merci France Musique ! continuez à nous enchanter ! (je donne des cours privés de batterie si il y à des gens motivés ! (contact sur face book ) du débutant au haut niveau . VIVE LA MUSIQUE ET LA CULTURE EN Général ! Amitiés à tous !

Quelle merveille! Mais quelle plaie, ces gens qui se permettent de tousser dans les concerts. Je ne comprends pas qu'avec la technologie moderne, on ne puisse pas filtrer ça au moment de la rediffusion. C'est sans doute pour cela que je préfère les enregistrements en studio.

Thanks for the upload. As expected great playing from this excellent orchestra however the performance overall falls well short of the gold standard recording with Saraste/Oslo Philharmonic which is absolutely electrifying.

Stacking up the kid against an in-his-prime Seibelian expert isn't fair. Young Mäkelä is a heck of a talent, and this performance, given the pedigree of the orchestra and the youth of the conductor, is impressive. Saraste's achievement with Oslo? I would expect it.

There was a performance posted on KZbin with Klaus Mäkelä conducting the Oslo Philharmonic in this same symphony that, although interpretively similar, I found more to my liking due to the Oslo Philharmonic's more darkly-hued sonority and the greater dynamic contrasts that characterized that performance. It was recently removed, possibly due to the scheduled release by Decca of his complete traversal of the Sibelius symphonies with the Oslo Philharmonic on March 25th.

A fabulous orchestra but completely wasted on a conductor who begins by changing the composer's tempi like he is some kid messing with a guitar. Balance is dreadful with only strings seeming to matter. He dices up woodwind and brass parts as if they are optional extras and keeps making dramatic gestures which Sibelius did not write. Perhaps when he has learned his trade Makela might be worth listening to.
