Paper Cutter Choke - A study on base and weight distribution

Although on paper the paper cutter choke seems like a simple submission (isolate their arm towards their head, support hand underhooks and grabs the lapel, choke hand grabs the far lapel...), when applied in rolls it is quite difficult to do if you are not using your body correctly.

Really goes to show how well run the academy is, and how respected JJM is, for a black belt to feel comfortable enough to admit he’s having trouble with something, just shows to lower belts that regardless of belt color, you never stop learning.

This is my favorite choke. Sometimes I put my head on the mat to trap their opposite arm. Then the guy can't defend.
