It's like sittin on the front porch talkin to you, so comforting, so familiar. You have more of an impact on people's lives than you'll probably ever know..it's so good to be able to go home again, and laugh and smile, even if it's for only 3 minutes at a time. Thank you...you're chosen career has brought such warmth and humor to so many! May God continue to bless you and yours!!

One time, in the sixties, on a remote Scottish island, where we lived, one of the locals passed. My daddy was assigned to get him in the coffin, forgetting poor Rory was a hunchback. In my fathers words, "We tried him in the box sideways, frontways, puir wee fella, couldnae get him tae fit. I had tae add two extra inches a' the wey roond tae fit him." I was ending myself laughing, had to ask him to stop.

Love how she has her friends, family and people in the audience. It just adds some realism! Yes, I believe chicken n potatah salad is also called rib stickin food! Had many cousins in NC and I was born and raised in CA my whole life... the South is different, but so much fun when it comes to their vernacular! Love it!

Nov 2022..... I come here for a laugh every now and then. "It's a long way to Macomb Mississippi!" has become one of my family's catch phrases when describing/discussing/joking about long trips. It doesn't matter the real destination, lol. "You better use the restroom, it's a long way to Macomb, Mississippi." or 'That's a two day drive! Oh well, it's a long way to Macomb, Mississippi." Thanks go out to Jeanne and Left Brain in heaven and all of the dear friends who supported her.

I’m from the south. The year my mother died, she had a conversation with my youngest brother about her funeral requirements. She told him to make sure she had her shoes on when she was placed in the coffin. My brother has a very brutal sense of humor. After laughing at her he asked her where she planned on going. She told him she didn’t know but she wanted to be prepared! When I went shopping to buy her burial suit, I included a pair of shoes and explained my mother’s wishes to the funeral director. Not the first time he has heard that story.

Reminds me of a story where a burial society from Seattle had to travel down to Tacoma to pick up a body and bring it back to Seattle for burial. There was the hearse driver and an attendant in the front. On the way back to Seattle, the driver turned to the attendant and said he needed to use a restroom and could they pull over at a service station. While the driver was in the restroom, a wino sauntered over and asked the attendant if he could get a ride. Hoping to scare off the wino, the attendant said there was no room in the front, but he could get in the back with the body. The wino, much obliged, climbed in back. The driver returned and off they went. A few miles down the road, the wino speaks up, "Hey buddy, mind if I smoke?" Completely shocked, the driver ended up putting the hearse in the ditch.

Long ago when I was a trucker, I came across a funeral procession stopped along the road. Stopping to offer help & blocking the road I found the hearse had a flat tire. Seems that no car/truck in the procession had a tire that would fit. This was before cell fones so I got on the CB to sort things out for 'em. I left wondering just how often that situation has arisen to where a man was late for his own funeral.

This just tickled me!! We wanted to bury my Daddy in the old church cemetery. He had been a member for 50 years, there were no spots left or so we thought. My father always used to complain that my mother dawdled when getting ready to go anywhere with him, and he used to say: "You'll be late to your own funeral." Pop passed first, and we all went to Tennessee for his funeral. Then, some years later, Mom died, and there was a lot of confusion concerning her funeral, but we had her remains cremated and due to some terrible mix-ups concerning the rather draconian rules at my work place regarding bereavement leave, and my two sisters' inability to attend due to their residence in nursing homes, no one was able to deliver her "cremains" to the site where her ashes and Pop's were going to be deposited. We finally managed to get the ashes delivered to Mom's cousin, but the delivery was not in time for the ceremony. Pop turned out to be right: Mom was late to her own funeral.

My uncle was late for his funeral at Arlington. It involved a blizzard that shut down the federal government in Washington. The powers that be decided to reopen the government on a sunny Friday even though the roads, like RT 66, weren't completely cleared. Major traffic jams resulted. The hearse was stuck in traffic and was late. We missed the service completely due to gridlock, and they couldn't actually bury him because there were 3 ft of snow on the ground. They did do the rifle salute and taps. I'm told they were nice. I think my uncle would have laughed.

Yes, there is so much humor in everyday life and if you can take that and make people laugh...……….. well, what can I say? When mama died the hearse got lost and the gravediggers took the day off. No body, no grave, so we sat around and ate peach pie.

I’m calling Bull Shit on this one. Nothing personal. I was one of the grave diggers. Our deal was payment in advance. We didn’t get paid so we didn’t dig. Get it right.

My husband's aunt, who was a hairdresser, used to "do" hair for funerals. She said the nice thing was they stayed still - & they never complained! (I'm sure she had few complaints anyway - was an excellent beautician!)

I was very happy to see you had a new video up this morning Miss Jeanne! Now that I’ve lived here in Mebane NC for the last 6 months, I’ve been blessed to see and experience first hand, that the people of the South truly are welcoming and big hearted. My ultimate goal is to one day soon be able to afford tickets to see you tell your stories in person. Until then, may you and Left Brain be blessed❤️
