Actually had the honor of hearing Jeannie sing this LIVE at a new years eve party at the "galleria" in s.f. WAY back...i think it was nye 1979 going into '80... the party was called "Dawn of the Decade". We were 5 feet below the stage. It was a night i will never forget. She tore it up!

This song is the essence of Disco in the late 70's. I would push people out of the way to get to the dance floor !

Just watched a Bill Brewster interview and he said Daniel Wang was playing this song when they played together about 6 years ago. I could see Daniel Wang loving this bc he has always loved disco.

I used to go into a bar on Sunset and load the jukebox with cash and keep hitting the button for this song. It would play for about an hour and a half nonstop. They finally asked me to stop doing that every day. One of my favorites.

Among the classiest of dance songs! As art10tv noted, it was not a cluttered production song. When Ms. Shy sings, the music is in the background, the way Frank Sinatra told his conductors "When I'm singing, the orchestra plays softly. I'M the focus of the song, not the orchestra." And Steve, I heard this at the Galleria that night, too! Tim Rivers, one of the genius dj's and my dearest friend, played the second half of this night, as I recall. The Galleria parties were killer. 5 levels high.

With me I prefer the orchestra to be on the same frequency as the vocalist. The music merges with the vocal. But the singer must also let the orchestration breathe.

So what happened to disco? Not a damn thing. It became house. This track is a perfect example of how you can't but a date on classic. What a great voice.

This is what modern music lacks: the singer is mixed down in the production, surrounded by reverb and noise artifacts, mainly to disguise the fact that they don't truly have a voice. Listen to Ms. Shy's voice: you can hear her singing clearly and continuously. She doesn't sing a phras, take a breath for a bar, and then sing more. She sings like Aretha: all throughout the song. Notice how rarely this happens in comtemporary pop. The singer sings a phrase, stops, then sings another phrase. Ugh!
