I know exactly where I was & what I was doing when I heard that Ryan White had died. My heart broke for his mother. No one deserves to be treated that way.

My heart goes out to this woman and her family. Just like a mom would, she remembers the smallest details about her son. To this very day...years later she is still crying. That pain never goes away. She couldn't even turn to her church. Unbelievably sad. She will be in my prayers.

To live a hard life with hemophilia then the factor gave them peace, came down with HIV from transfusion and lived a horrible life not only being sick but had to deal with the back lash of the public’s fear about a new virus not understood and feared and then die a slow horrible death. What a terrible time but what a legacy he left. He is now laying in the hands of God who tells him Ryan i got you. Please just rest. Everyone here accepts your incredible soul and you wont be ostracized ever again.

Thank you so very much for sharing your story, Ryan's story. Your whole family has shown the world such strength and courage. I admired you all then and still do. You will never know how much you helped the families fighting the same health battles and discrimination. The fight for JUSTICE continues.

I suffer from Hemophilia A - Factor 8 deficient. I always find myself being envious of a mother's strength to protect their child and do what has to be done. I swear her & my mother tell their stories of administering treatments to their son almost verbatim. Good women. Brave women. Thank you Ryan for raising awareness both in Aids research and the Hemophilia community. I truly witness legend everytime I see your face.

Jeanie is a amazing person and the best mom ever she's been through so much Very few people were there for them when Ryan was sick because of the stigma of AIDS. I'm so glad that she talks about this. And that they protect emotional. I don't think. They know enough back then to test factor for the AIDS virus. And it wasn't anyone's fault. Times were very different than male people that get HIV most can normal healthy lives. With the coctail they have now I just wish it was there in time for ryan and all the others jeanie we love you and we will never forget ryans strength& spirit & love for his family

His mother has so much courage it breaks my heart if Ryan had a made it a couple more years I’m surprise she didn’t sue the crap out of the hospital since they were the ones that infected him with HIV/AIDS by giving him tainted blood before testing it for HIV that how he contracted the disease. I’m happy shes keeping his legacy alive we need more people like her it’s not HIV/AIDS that kills it’s ignorance and fear that kills that’s more deadly than anything.
@sarka746 жыл бұрын
When Ryan was getting factor 8 medical community did not know that AIDS existed in the USA. You can say that the blood should have been tested when CDC recommended that they had some sort of a test for trying to figure out which donor was HIV positive around 83/84. AIDS was discovered in the US in the late 70s and early 80s. Blood testing did not start until 84/85/86 and ryan had started to receive factor 8 ( according to his mother) in early to mid-70s. By the time Ryans parents realized that ryan got AIDS through factor 8 he probably was HIV positive for almost a decade.

Yeah they didn't know about AIDs when they were first giving factor 8. The worst thing is what they did with it once they knew. When it was decided that all factor 8 should be heat treated to kill viruses they had a load of untreated factor 8 left and instead of destroying it they sold it to third world countries knowing that it contained HIV. If you Google factor 8 controversy u can read more about it.
@xoxocessa4 жыл бұрын
If you read her book Weeding Out The Tears, it wasn't the hospital that they tried suing, it was several different blood companies. The suit unfortunately didn't go through because in Indiana apparently you can't sue blood suppliers.

I wish I would have met him. Wish I was born in ‘71, I was born in ‘77 . I would have loved to have met him and to be his friend. I have watched a lot of KZbin videos about him and your family and watched the Ryan white story today for the first time. I was so touched by his story. I cried.. he was very strong in so many ways so loved by his family and Sir Elton John, Michael Jackson etc. etc.. No mother wants to bury there child. I know that for a fact. My second son passed away ‘2003 @ 2 1/2 months old from SIDS. It’s a pain that will never go away. But us mothers know we will see them again one day in heaven. I too wanted to end my life when I lost my baby. What kept me here is my oldest son now he is 24yr old. We always think of him all the time. We were truly blessed the time we had with him. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family and friends. And my thought and prayers are with any one that has Aids or lost a child to any disease or SIDS. May god be with you always. 😇 there our Angels now. God Bless

My grandparents helped establish the Michigan Hemophilia Foundation, so it was devastating when state and national sat on their hands when HIV/AIDS began to show up in the community. The federal government said that the hemophiliac community was too small to warrant any research. My brother Paul contracted HIV the same was as Ryan, through Factor 8. That was devastating to learn, but not as devastating as losing my best friend in 1993. He lives on in my heart.

The horrific mean behavior of their original community, parents teaching their children to bully, insult, hurt another child was so disgusting. Those people should be forever ashamed. Those are the ones people should have their kids avoid. She taught Ryan strength, compassion and grace. They taught their children cruelty, ignorance and how to be human failures.
