A quick preview of the Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 319. Fits tall people and sleeps as many as six, maybe 7. Very nice quality boat from Jeanneau's Polish manufacturing facility.

Scott, for a couple that wants to cruise full-time along coasts with an occasional Atlantic crossing and occasional guests (another couple), which Jeanneau model would you recommend and why?

Hi, Interesting request actually as there's a fellow youTube follower that has a Jeanneau 45 and they've been cruising the world in their boat. Currently they are in Central America however recently came from New Zealand. They are full time live aboard. So, 45 is certainly a size I've seen frequently travel the way you describe. As far as the new boats go, the just phasing out 419 is probably the smallest I'd pick myself for a couple of reasons. First the boat can take a third fuel or water tank, has 3 distinct offshore berths, CE Class A (they all are), and has a decent size waterline length to make some distances quickly. You could do the the 389 as well. But bigger may be better. If I could wave a wand and pick one it would be the 54. Deep forefront, great storage and liveaboard characteristics. The 449 and 479 are big versions of the 419 and have better generator handling with the added gains of the waterline lengths. The new 440 and 490 sail similar to the 449 and 479 with the speed edge going to the latter models. The 490 might be something to consider in terms of live aboard especially with the split head/shower up forward. The 519 & the 51 share the same hull but have completely different interiors and deck. The 58 is a "traditional" hull and they go everywhere. Its like a big version of the older 53 and there's one of those doing the World ARC now.The 64, of course, can be found everywhere too. So, it boils down to budget, storage parameters, draft restrictions, etc.. I have my hands on new and used of virtually all the models and can get you aboard yourself so you can see what they are all about. Scott
