JEANNEAU 350, No BullS*%T, just a sailboat tour

This is a great first-timer sailboat or if you are looking for a BIG, little coastal cruiser that has loads to give. I Love this Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 350 and with its world debut at the 2024 BOOT Dusseldorf boat show she was in hot demand.

Thanks a lot for your great review. Having seen this boat in Dusseldorf as well, your filming brought back some pleasant memories. You've shown a lot of the nice and useful features this boat has. For those who have sailed the Sun Odyssey 349 I just wanted to add that the anchor locker on the 350 is deeper and steeper. The anchor chain jamming under the windlass is a thing of the past. While it is marketed as a coastal cruiser, like most of the smaller Sun Odysseys I know well, when well equipped they are far more versatile than that. I bet that the 350 will be able to do more than just hop between moorings in daylight. It is indeed very well suited for starters. It may also appeal to those who like me, after sailing on bigger yachts, are looking for smaller and simpler boats, age and shrinking crews commanding. Now I'm waiting for a test report at sea, then to put my hands on a 350's helm and sheets to make up my mind !

If we were in the market for a small cruiser this would be it at the moment when it comes to price, size and options. Since Jeanneau started changing its range like with the 55 they have started winning back their reputation as a forward-thinking production boat yard. This boat has so much to offer. The aft dry head and port storage is a really impressive bit of design. For a lot of sailors I think this would be an ideal forever boat. I'm curious about the keel and hull-to-deck fitting with the coastal references, though. With the right sails I don't see anything that would give me pause in crossing the Atlantic. Might be a bit light on displacement for provisions.

I must be honest here. Although this boat is brilliant (this walk-through deck is REALLY a very useful and safety feature), I don't understand why the vast majority of European boat manufacturers insist in the V-shaped berth in the owner's cabin even in the mid 30's feet sailboats. Modern hull shapes allow space for a more comfortable option (ex. Dufour 37, which is actually a 34 footer). Another brilliant (and the best) in my opinion is the Catalina 355, the perfect balance between luxurious finishings and use of space.

I believe after what Jeanneau have done here and with the slow but well-designed changes from the Hanse group more yacht manufacturers will be adapting and changing their yachts for the better. More space and comfort for the family boats and better safety for the blue water crowed.

So does the walk around take away from the cockpit space or is the 350 wider than the 349 to account for that?

Great review and great yacht - BUT... Why do we on a 2024 model boat still see chart plotters and instruments placed directly behind the steering wheels? Terrible setup putting your hands at risk from near decapitation or broken bones from the spokes on the wheels if you try pushing any buttons in a seaway - especially when using auto pilot. Unfortunately yacht reviewers rarely point this out.

It is an issue I have always had, but with these smaller yachts, they are limited in how they present or fit this stuff. It is one of the many reasons why I am a big fan of pedestals, they are very practical and I am sure we will start to see them being used in smaller yachts soon.

Yes sure she starts at around 150.000 euros including VAT but that is before options etc and the price at the time of the boat show how that works in Australian dollars not sure. It is a cracking small boat and I would buy it in a heartbeat if it was what we were looking for but it's not. 😜😁
