This is my experience and how i set up my jeboa sine wave DC pumps. Most people use them in aquariums/ fish tanks but I'm using them in my large fish pond that I'm currently building.
If you want to learn more about building and maintaining ponds on a budget visit my website ozponds.com
Heres a link to these pumps they are available on amazon in many different sizes amzn.to/3imwUcy

Thanks Sam. I’m so happy I found these pumps. They are moving a ton of water for such low consumption. And I love that they are low volt. It would be nice if they made a decent extension so you don’t need to do that yourself but for the cost savings I can live with that 👍

Hi Kev, I'm new to ponds having moved into a house with one, so have watched a lot of your content and love it. I'm building building a Bog filter as per your other videos and have got one of these pumps for it. Any tips on the best way of connecting it to the 25mm PVC inflow used in the Bog filter? The connectors and instructions supplied with the pump have left me guessing.
@Ozponds
@Ozponds 2 жыл бұрын
What size pump did you buy and what bog filter design are you using? If you plan on using a 15000 litre pump on the barrel bog it’s way too much flow.
@darrenshaw7608
@darrenshaw7608 2 жыл бұрын
@@Ozponds I've got about 3/4 of a 220 litre olive barrel as the bog for a 1000 litre pond. I've got a 10000 litre pump which is probably still more than I need but was just going to turn down the wattage to get the flow I need. So I'm using 25mm pvc fittings to the bog but the supplied pump connectors have me slightly stumped as to what else I need.
@Ozponds
@Ozponds 2 жыл бұрын
Ok. So I would use some flexible pipe and then glue or clamp on a pvc fitting that can then be connected to the bog. The pump should have come with multiple connectors. It may be necessary to step the fittings down to 25mm using reducers. I know on the 15000 litre model the connectors are 50mm not sure on the 10000 litre model. When I’m in doubt I just take the connectors into the plumbing section with me and cobble it all together and then buy what I need. I hope that helps.

@@Ozponds Just as a side note you were right, even 10000 L/H was way too much. Even at the min of 30% it was still pumping more than 25mm pipe could return efficiently. Am now downsizing to 4000 L/H pump 😀
@Ozponds
@Ozponds 2 жыл бұрын
Go even less if you are set on 25mm inflow. At 4000L I would use 40mm.

Hi Kev, I love your channel. I had a couple of questions. I'm building a new pond and was wondering if it's OK to use a Jebao DC Marine pump, such as "Jebao MDC-10000 WIFI Marine Aquarium DC Return Circulation Water Pump & Control" instead of Non Wifi Pond Pump version such as what's shown in your video. I like the idea of it being Wifi! Also, in regards to extending the cables I will also have to do that. Rather than snip the cord, do you think the 2 or 3 prong extension cables for Holman garden lights would be compatible ? Cheers.
@Ozponds
@Ozponds 2 жыл бұрын
G’day Peter I see no problem with using the wifi models. In regards to if the Holman lighting cables are compatible I’m not sure. That’s one thing that frustrates me so much is everyone makes their connectors different so they aren’t interchangeable. If you try it and it works please come back and let us know because I’m sure others are looking for alternatives to cutting the cord 👍

@@Ozponds thanks for the reply and I'll let you know about the cables .. cheers
@Ozponds
@Ozponds 2 жыл бұрын
I was thinking some more about your question. I’m not an electrician but my understanding is that the core thickness of the cables should match up or even better be bigger when extending low volt appliances. Running lights is quite different to a pump. So just check the core thickness on the pump cable as compared to the core thickness of the lighting cable. It will say something like 1.5mm3. I hope that helps and I’m not adding any confusion.

@Ozponds Great, thank you. I currently have a 240v aqua forte 22,000s (80 watts to 200 watts) but when/if it eventually dies, I think I'm going to try the 36v Jabao dcp 20,000. It's seems more energy efficient same flow less watts, Safer and cheaper. The only annoying bit is the cable is only 1.5 metres from the transformer to the pump? How have you found your Jabao pump so far?

Just make sure it’s pre filtered. I wouldn’t just place one of these on the bottom of a turtle pond. You’d be forever cleaning it. Mine are in the intake bay so the water is pre filtered by all the rock and pebble, only very small particles make it through so they just travel through the pump.
