Jensen is rarely the one to go in for the hug first. It's always Jared. And it's not because Jensen is cold or anything. He just likes to play that "no chick flick moments" role when we all know deep down he loves the "chick flick moments". But the fact that he was the one to grab Jared by the face and pull him in lets you know how close they really are. He could hear in Jareds voice that he really needed that hug. He noticed the way Jared was standing so close, how Jared had his hand casually on his shoulder like he didn't even notice he was doing it. Jared was subconsciously calling out for connection. Jensen heard him.

i just love the look in jensen's face when he hugged jared. he wasn't joking around or doing anything for the camera. in that moment he hugged jared because he deeply cares for him and doesn't want jared to feel anything again like he felt around jib 2015. they are much more than co stars or friends. they are brothers❤️ i'm so proud to be a part of this family. we (including the cast) have each other's backs. 💓

If I remember correctly, Jared was emotionally exhausted and was having some issues with his depression/anxiety, so he took some time off social media and cancelled his appearance at JibCon that year. If you haven't had a chance to read Fangasm's "Family Don't End With Blood", I believe Jared explains in his chapter.

the way Jared gets closer and reaches out to touch Jensen because he's getting emotional, and how Jensen understands, shows the shirt and goes in for the hug, other than the look on Gen's face - that all goes to show just how close they are, how real their relationship actually is. you don't fake that, and you don't take it for granted. how many co stars won't even talk to each other? and even among those who are friends, it's rare and special to find two actors that share such a deep bond. it's amazing and it never fails to make me emotional.

I literally just started the show a couple weeks ago and I already love these guys so much. I love the relationship between the actors and how that bleeds into the show and I love how much they all care for each other, and how close they all are. I love how when Jensen said “we love you guys” you could really believe it because it didn’t feel like he had to say, it felt like he wanted to say it because this fandom and cast and show is just so full of love. These guys and this show (as weird as it may sound) makes me so happy and even though they will probably never see this since its a older convection video, I hope one day I can tell them I love them. Jibcon 2013 someone close to Jared got sick so he had to fly home. Jibcon 2014 he dislocated his shoulder. Jibcon 2015 his depression got really bad and he had to fly back to spend time with his family. Really happy he made it this year without any misfortunes!

Back then I didn't really know anything about them so the exchange made me feel uncomfortable, but knowing what I know now, the reason for this slip up is painfully obvious. I mean, you don't have to be a genius to see that J2 are together and their "wives" are just beards, and there's nothing rare or special about it. in fact for some reason the percentage of gay men among actors is disproportionally high compared to the rest of the population, and most of them are bearding ("girlfriends" or "wives") and many are even having children with their beards and raising them as co-parents, there are even entire PR teams who specialize in this kind of stuff
