Not a problem mate... As for hiking overnight, quite often these need to be done with guide groups but rules do change. I would call Jebel Jais, or RAK Tourism to get a gauge on latest rules.

@sportstraveltom4 жыл бұрын
Hey mate, thanks for the comment. You can't get to the actual summit of Jebel Jais as it is in Oman. But the view from the highest UAE public point are just as worth it! Hope you enjoy it!
@GeorgeRon3 жыл бұрын
Interesting. Is the summit elevation on that board at 3:23 correct? 1415m? I presume some civil survey went into that. If I plot this route on Strava, you get points on the road at the summit that are greater than 1600m. What do you believe? In my previous experience with summits, the advertised elevations are often quite off. Is that sign right at the very top?
@sportstraveltom3 жыл бұрын
Ho Ron, the first elevation featured at 3.23 is not the high point of Jebel Jais. That is the first high point you reach on the trail and the first designated rest point. The true highest public point in the UAE is later in the video at 1,640m. Hope that helps.

I have been there yesterday and dont understand why they call it "highest public point" as 30 meters above, there is where the zipline starts, so that is accessible as well and you are higher. Anyway we did not stop here and continued all the way up. Around the fence of Sheikhs summer house, first we reached Western peak at 1910 and then continued those like 300 meters to Oman to reach the very peak of Jebel Jais at 1934. There is + - marked pathway with stone stairs from here and there so I think lot of people are using this way. You should edit your video to motivate ppl to go all the way up and not to stop at these tourist trap signs :)
@sportstraveltom Жыл бұрын
I know what you mean. My only thought is the zipline is a booked experience and you can only go there with the zipline tour staff so not technically free to the public. Next time I will do an expanded hike further along the path :)
@habiblari10453 жыл бұрын
Hi, I'm planning to tackle this in a few weeks but we were discussing leaving early to reach the peak for sunrise. Would you have any suggestions, or advise against doing it in the early hours? Thinking to start around 4am
@sportstraveltom3 жыл бұрын
That sounds great! Of course you need to make sure are properly prepared, lights, torches etc. Without daylight you’ll need to concentrate on the path. It can also be a bit cold before the sun comes up so pack some warm clothing. I know lots of people who have walked up for sunrise - enjoy!
