Whether you are Jaberti Somali, Eritrean, Tigray, Ethiopian, Sudan, Yemen, Oman, or Saudi we need to understand that our people came together to fight against oppression and teach brotherhood through religion. What does the Horn of Africa have to offer now for the future generations? Pride with no backing. Proxy Wars to destroy us. Unity is the only way forward. The people together, will never be divided or conquered. ❤️🇸🇴

@Z Aden I strongly agree with this as an Eritrean Christian orthodox Tigrinya tribe member I am very proud of this Jeberti Muslim tribe and I would love to see them maintain the culture and religion moving forward from here. Eritrea gained independence by the collectivism of the Eritrean-to-be people at the time. So we should learn from our ancestors and co-exist for a common goal of maintaining the country, land, sea and 10 tribes together peacefully. That should also be implemented elsewhere in the Horn of Africa. The politicians from the western world love to see Africans divide, have hatred amongst themselves and cause bloody civil wars within their lands. This should be eliminated and our future generations are responsible for this. Peace and abundance to all Africans, Africa for Africans as Gadafi said. Religion or ethnicities enriches our lands and it should never ever divide us because at the end we are all humans created by one almighty God/Allah who wants us to live peacefully. Eritrea is the land of the fearless and we should always be proud to be fearless!Eritreans reading this please don’t let the devil to come amongst us and to my Muslim Jeberti brothers & sisters I do appreciate your culture, tribe and ethnicity you definitely deserve the recognition of your heroic ancestors. 🇪🇷🇪🇷🇪🇷

Jeberti in Eritrea is different to Jeberti in Somalia brother...In Somalia, most of the Darod tribe claim heritage to the same man; Abdirahman bin Isma'il al-Jabarti. In Eritrea, most of the Jeberti are just Tigrinya people who converted to Islam several centuries ago. They just don't want to be recognised as "Tigrinya" for some reason. If you ask these Eritreans who call themselves "Jeberti" about their heritage, you will get several different answers. Some are originally from the Tigray region of Ethiopia, some are originally Somalis who settled in Asmara during the Italian era of Eritrea, some of them are actually Saho people who have forgotten their language and heritage over several generations and now have adopted Tigrinya language. The son of a Christian Eritrean man who converted to Islam yesterday will suddenly identify as "Jeberti" Don't take this personal brother and I don't mean to be rude but Jeberti is a fake identity in Eritrea. In essence, Jeberti in Eritrea really don't exist! In the Tigray region of Ethiopia, the Muslims there Identify as "Tigrinya Muslim"...They don't lie to themselves and call themselves "Jeberti". That is because they have to unite because they have enemies in the south with the Amhara and the Oromo peoples. But in Eritrea, the Tigrinya Christians and the Tigrinya Muslims compete with each other because Tigrinya is their first language. So naturally, a divide will occur and therefore the Tigrinya Muslims will call themselves something else to differentiate themselves from the "other" Tigrinya.

+Vali Dulhac You got it backwards. I heard that explanation in Wollo a long time ago. They say Jeberti is one who willingly accepted the religion, and not by the power of the sword, which is how Islam spread in most parts of the world.
Jeberti in Eritrea is different to Jeberti in Somalia brother...In Somalia, most of the Darod tribe claim heritage to the same man; Abdirahman bin Isma'il al-Jabarti. Many thanks to Jabertiyiin in Eritrea. Abdirahman bin Isma'il al-Jabarti. We are Somali Jabarti. The Darod (Somali: Daarood, Arabic: دارود) is a Somali clan. The father of this clan is named Abdirahman bin Isma'il al-Jabarti, but is more commonly known as Darod. In the Somali language, the word Daarood means "an enclosed compound," a conflation of the two words daar (compound) and ood (place enclosed by wall, trees, woods, fence, etc.). Darood is the largest and geographically most widely distributed clan.[1] [2] The Darod population in Somalia lives principally in the north, with a presence in Kismayo in addition to the southwestern Gedo region.[3] Outside of Somalia proper, there are various Darod sub-clans in the Ogaden and the North Eastern Province (currently administered by Ethiopia and Kenya, respectively),[3] Several sources, including the Canadian Report of the Somalia Commission of Inquiry, indicate that the Darod is the largest Somali clan

@whowhatwhenwhyhow92657 жыл бұрын
Amaar Moh it is probably because due to the rise of Islam, the Aksumite empire was surrounded by a sea of Muslim country and became an island of Christianity. It became cut off from the rest of the other Christian countries ( Greece, Roman Empire, Egypt etc). This caused the decline of its culture and economy. Plus we were attacked several times by the Sudanese Muslims, the Somalis under Ahmed gragn, and many of our people were sold by these invaders to their Arab masters over the centuries. also look at the rashaida tribe that moved to Eritrea and Sudan from Saudi Arabia after they were defeated by other Saudi tribes. They are still refusing to integrate to either Sudan or Eritrea and they are smuggling weapons and kidnapping people to sell them to their fellow Arabs. How can these people who are ethnically Habesha be so loyal to the Arabs even though when they go to Arab countries are not treated better than their habesha Christian brothers and sisters. They are called abid, cahloush and other derogatory names the arabs use to describe Africans. Then when they migrate to the west in search of a better life and more humane treatment and better education for their kids decide to bite the hand that feeds them by insulting their non Muslim hosts by calling them kafir ( non believers). Free your mind from mental slavery. The arabs do not see you as their brothers, they see you as their servants.... they will never allow you to merry their daughters. But you fools are happy to let the Arab men merry your daughters. 😂😂😂 Look at what Lebanon and other Arab countries said when Sudan and Somalia wanted to join the Arab league.... they didn't want them to be part of it because of their racism .... But they accepted the North African Berber tribes which don't even speak proper Arabic. Look at the way the Yemenis treat the Somalis, or the way the way the Lebanese treat the Sudanese immigrants ( you can google it or check it on KZbin). But still you rather beg for their acceptance instead of accepting the reality.

You know what comes with pride? Shame and disaster, you fools. The tigre will shout: we are tigre, the best. The tigrigna will say: no we are the best, the saho too will shout saho is the most best, etc. Do not understand how things go? Let me tell you a secret: No one is special in the sight of Allah. Allah created us all equally. We should gain wisdom and stop immediately with the foolishness.

Jeberti are eritreans in origin, they are not from tigray. there were two group of jeberti the first were known as the debarwa group who were the first sahaba and the reverts from the local eritrean population 1430 years ago. they resided in a village not far from debrawa. the second group are known as the Zula group where many arabs traders and new revert clustered around zula town in the coast of Eritrea. Tigray didn't had any muslims till the 16th century or when king isaac of eritrea the sea king died and the border between the mereb opened up, that is when the muslims from eritrea crossed the mereb and entered tigray. for trade and introducing the religion even if you read ahmed gragn records he stated that there is no muslims in tigray when he invaded tigray in the 1500's. There is 2 type of jeberti these days the original jeberti who are from the debarwa group and the zula group, and there is the jeber of integration arabs,persians,indians etc who moved into the horn of africa and adopted that name who also mixed with the local population. what you will find with eritrean jeberti apart from other jeberti is they have a family tree stretching at least 600-700 years and some of them even going back to the first wave 1430 years ago. Remember yohannes the ethiopian king with his priests when they started killing the jeberti in tigray he called them the muslims who came from eritrea.

sirwallaby It is upto them if they want to live in confusion and want you to be confused but the Identity crisis of Jeberti is in two ways they are not proud of their roots I don't know why? One thing is they are originally from Tigray specially around a place named Shire in Ethiopia and they are in self hate of their identity they migrated to Eritrea to merge with the muslim Eritreans to better reinforce the 50% muslim in Eritrea and live with superiority, the second thing is they are Tigryna speaking Ethnic which changed their religion following the migration of Arabs to alnejashi in Ethiopia there is no Jeberti Ethnic any where in the world, generally it is weired to say we are not from Tigray and Tigryna Ethnic while your mother language is Tigrina be proud of you roots brothers instade of claiming for land where you dont belong, nobody will deport you even you can see wedi Afom is leading the country with no roots.

+robel m hey Robel the jeberti are originally some of the companions of the prophet of Islam and the few native converts who followed Islam when the negus of midri bahri who resided in debarwa gave them safe haven 1400 years ago. Then as the population grew they were known as the jeberti and they were called as belew by the Ethiopians hundreds of years later. There was no Muslims let alone jeberti in Tigray till king Isaac of midri bahri was defeated and the Ethiopians occupied Eritrea and the border was open, this is why there is no history of Muslims in Tigray prior to 1600's. The Muslim population in Tigray was known as belew to the tigrayans and when their king yohannes and ras alula discussed eliminating the Muslim population from Tigray by giving them a choice of converting to Christianity or going back to Eritrea as yohannes knew along with his priest that those belew who came from Eritrea must make a choice, remember the jeberti who moved to Tigray gave them the name Tigray.
