My uncle Gary Tanner. Passed the military exam at 21 years old with a score so high that they allowed him to bypass officers school. They sent him to Nam as a captain. When i was in high school i brought home deer hunter to watch with the family. My mother exploded. Like I've never seen, out of no where of something seemingly harmless as it was "just" a movie. I never really got it then. I am in my 30's now and i get it. This song means so much to me i cant express. Its truth. Its brutal.
