Ben Scott I think I eyeballed it, probably around 6 inches. I spaced them enough to make sure the ball didn’t pop out.

Brad Badertscher Hey Brad, there is list of supplies somewhere in the comments. As to how to build it, I was at camp when this was built for us. But, I think by watching the video, you can catch on pretty quick. Thanks for watching!

I like this! Simple way to do it and it appears quite sturdy if properly screwed together. We are going to build something very close to this. However, we might sink the 4 x 4's for a little extra stability. Thank you for putting this out on the web.

Is the bottom board a different size than the other 3? Did you use 8 foot deck boards?

Yes, the bottom board is larger. I think they are 8 inches. Yes, boards are eight feet long.

Thank you for sharing. We may have enough space in our wooded yard for something like this. How are the concrete stepping stones secured to the posts?

Have to ask about the concrete base. Did you get concrete pavers/stepping stones or make your own? How are they holding up? Any cracking? What about students sitting on the fencing? Have you had any break/split?
@discipleprojectoutreach6 жыл бұрын
Sunnysideuth We put stepping stones underneath. Holding up well. No fence splitting... yet, fingers crossed. :)

We make them climb over, but you can always take one board off one side to make it easier.

This was pretty much exactly the video I was looking for. Thank you so much! Our congregation is looking to build one of these in as cost efficient way as possible and this video has helped a ton! What size are the boards going horizontally, connecting the post and how far apart are they spaced?

Hey Luke, glad you liked the vid. The boards are 5 1/2 inches wide and are about 5 1/2 inches spaced apart.

Excited to build this (read: my husband and teen sons to build this) for my soon-to-be-10yo son's bday on Friday. He plays at church and at school, and we have a large-ish backyard that we want to make better use of, so this is his present.

One question, how would you built an exit side? (One side being smaller than the rest for entering and exiting the pit.)
@discipleprojectoutreach8 жыл бұрын
Most of our kid are big so they climb over it. If we see that it's difficult getting in and out we'll ether take a board off or make the board to where we can take it on and off easily.

Quick question, are the 4x4's cut in anyway for the horizontals to attach at the angle for an octagon?
@discipleprojectoutreach7 жыл бұрын
No, the 4 x4's are positioned to make the octagon. Thanks for watching!
@discipleprojectoutreach7 жыл бұрын
Rewatched my video and although the 4x4 are not cut the deck board are cut to e a 45 degree angle to facilitate the shape.
@selenarae775 жыл бұрын
@@discipleprojectoutreach You can see in the video (at 1:23) that the 4x4 posts have one corner cut to allow the boards to make the 135 degree angle needed for the octagon. We built a Gaga Pit, this weekend, and it was essential to cut all of the posts that way. We did not cut our board ends at an angle, though, in the interest of time.
