There was a question lindhar reagents and other were given in MMCQ type in paper 2 There was triple bond and double bond so is there not acidification reaction on giving H3O + and give ketone or alcohol respectively but In there final product there was nothing like thatIf you get then pls reply 🥲

Dear sir, in PYQ JEE MAINS 2021 I saw a question on stability of X2O halogen monoxide. The answer given is I2O is more stable ... But how sir? Does it exist at all??
@chemistrymaderousing-bytus21005 ай бұрын
As stability of halogen oxides on two factors - polarity by EN difference and extent of back bonding . Polarity dominates . So En difference between I & O is most and most polarity and least backbonding here . And Cl - back-bonding (BB) dominates and not polarity .. so I beats Cl in stability as polarity factor dominates BB factor . Br is weak in both . So lie behind . So I>Cl>Br

@@chemistrymaderousing-bytus2100 thank you for the amazing explanation. But why I2O is never mentioned in the list of G17 oxides, when it is most stable? And why does the polarity dominates only in some cases? How do we know that? I haven't read any such theory before. On what basis was a student expected answer that question? Is there any relevant hint in class 11, 12 chemistry course ?

@@Curi0us-s0ul see at the end of the day my dear friend . Halogen oxides are not that stable in general because of their tendency to exist on oxoacid form as they are acidic.. also , when you are picking up stable among all of them in general all being addressed as less stable .we think of stability in terms of bond polarity (EN difference and Fajan Rule) - Cations should be smaller and cations are halogens in front of oxygen except fluorine .. That is also the reason that oxyfluorides are least stable and release O2 gas in general and except bond polarity on basis of extent of BB .
@chemistrymaderousing-bytus21005 ай бұрын
@@Curi0us-s0ul also it’s there in JD LEE as one line mentioned but can’t send pictures here .. right now I have Sudarshan guha - IMprovised JD LEE . Check halogen oxides topic in group 17 chemistry . You will find the line quoting iodine forming most stable oxides of halogen and also to add halogen in higher OS form more stable oxides than lower due to due to energy considerations . Even you may know that most of the elements binds with O/F in high oxidation state due to thermodynamic consideration . Enthalpy of atomization and ionization energy being compensated by energy relased due to new bonds formed as bonds formed with small size fluorine and oxygen are strong .

Bhi transference single electron jab rehta hai aur sfl jab rehta hai tab hota generally for d6 there is exception.... But in yaha par backpairing hoga kyuki s orbital ke bina hybridisation nhi hota... Transference tab hota hai jab single electron s orbital me involved hota hai tab cno. 4 ke lie sfl hoga toh 4p me bhej deha but yaha 4s2 hai toh pehle eg and t2g pair larayega and then backpairing hoga 4s wala electron eg me bhej dega yaha sp3 ke bina koi option hi nhi hai correct ans will be 5 ... But as sir has told 4 bhi ho sakta hai.... Kyu ki sir bhi logical chiz bol rhe...
