Great to see this guy on again, his first interview was fantastic. Just a note, RIP Bob Uecker. :( "Juuuust a bit outside" will live forever.

Yes, we will miss Mister Baseball! I still say that line. Oh, I must be in the front row!

You hear about Ohtani deferring 98% of this salary, reaching out to players like Glassnow, making effort to speak in Korean to a rookie, doing everything he can to contribute off the field to build a winning team. Like how Kobe reached out to him to try to get him to sign with Dodgers, didn't work but he tried.

They didn't actually get to show him the kobe video. I think because NL didn't have DH, he had to go elsewhere despite wanting to join dodgers since he was a kid.

From what I've seen of Kim, his work ethic will fit right in with the Dodgers, and he will not let himself fail.

Jeeho Yoo has wonderful insight on the Korean baseball market. Korean Jeff Passan!! Haha

Dodgers were the first team to call after posting. Hyesong wanted the number 3 jersey but had to settle for 6. The dude really takes care of his body and is really excited to start spring training.

He seems like a great person, not surprising as it seems most asian players are raised well. I just hope his bat can actually translate.

For reference in 2015, the year before he jumped from the KBO to MLB, Hyun Soo Kim, a LHed LFer, slugged 28HRs with 121RBIs and a 0.979 OPS. Kim, who the Orioles signed for two years in 2016 and had a terrible Spring Training which ultimately led to a refusal to a minor league demotion, had a slash line of 0.302 / 0.382 / 0.420 in 305ABs. His first season turned out to be best season while the following season his OPS dipped to under 0.600. He hit 6HRs in 2016 and 1HR in 2017. He returned to the KBO in 2018 where he hit 20HRs. I hope Hyesong Kim works out for the Dodgers and I know this is just one example, but there is clearly a difference in the level of talent across leagues.

I'm so glad Sho is Irish. He's such a good representative of our great people. I hope he comes back to the homeland and have a pint on me. 🍺

Is everybody just claiming Sho as theirs now? Since when was sho Irish haha
@AdamSmithsHand14 күн бұрын
@@Heybrotruthhurts of course he is, look at his name. It's 🍀Shohei🍀, short for "Show our hay". We have many clans folk who's family heritage is growing hay for our lands. It is through their hard work, perseverance and strong shoulders that make them successful and those traits are common amongst their clan members such as Sho. Tough folk. Good people. Ai, laddy, Sho is one o' ours. 🍀🍀🍀

@ Oi! 😒Don't disrespect a fellow Irishman like that. When the pub comes a callin, The Sho comes a drinkin. Never once has an Irishman ever disrespected an unfinished mug o' stout. You just don't know laddy, Sho's shoulder strength is only out matched by Sho's liver strength. And that's a fact.

As Korean, I am sorry to say I have zero expectations in Korean players. They're either chokers or underperformers. The only exception was Ha-Sung Kim, who not only played well but also adopted culturally seamlessly. Most Koreans can't do that unfortunately. So, don't expect too much on this Kim either. Average, OK at best.
